Spent more time on the Mini D presets. Really, really nice. The sub Bass tones and drones are worth checking out. The "metallic" pads sound very cool and might be better than some of the OPX4 presets on my Favorites list. Even some of the FX presets are impressive.

Still don't know about the Flavor Pro. Maybe later, after I spend more time with the Flavor I already have.

Classic filter loses some low end when raising the resonance, just like the original Moog.

Modern filter doesn't.

At least thats my understanding between the two.

Yea, it's just that the classic filter brings out so much more to the sound. But there's probably some good use for the modern one in specific situations as well.

Hahah true - the “Classic” sounds so much better. I encourage people to check out Poli Popo’s video on the Mini-D. So much more comprehensive, and he really puts it through its paces. Far more than Tefty did anyway.

Yeah im in a much better mood also :smoker: now that we can focus more on beautiful inspiring GUIs like the FUNK monster MOOG.

For most MPC X (keyboard beats) production I'm ready to leave the computer almost entirely including Kontakt and get the standalone Novation SL49 MK3 to chord to the standalone MPC X like my Maschine used to integrate with Komplete Kontrol S49 MK2.

The Akai Mini D played by that semi-weighted, Fatar-like keybed; with aftertouch, to classic Moog patches will get ya heart pumpin!

Love ya'll MPC head brothren! Keep up the great discussion!

Anyone else feel like it is kinda funny how everybody has been so positive about these for the most part compared to last time. It makes me wonder if these are truly that much better, it is it just that they only have two this time, and it more easily attainable by most people??
I feel like it was really the price that killed the last batches enthusiasm more then the quality.. I know people were saying they aren't good, but I feel they really got a bad rap.. I think if they had sold them in batches of one or two then people would have said how amazing they sound!! Lol!! They are really really good..
I think $500 was just way too much of a ask, nomatter how many they were including.

Could be. For me - talking about the original batch - OPx-4 and Fabric XL were the only two that really blew my socks off. So a $500 plugin bundle just had no value to me - I just really wanted those two. For these, Mini-D and Flavor Pro are just excellent all around, and I feel the launch price isn't bad at all.

It might also be that the first time around, most everyone was just expecting to get everything for free, so they pissed and moaned because of the new way of doing things. This time around, people know what's up, so the moaning is far less.

Yea launching OPx4 at 150 was a mistake, to me these plugins are individually worth 50 to 70 max. At that price they're great and I'm pretty sure they would have made more money starting like that. Plus by being overpriced hacking becomes almost inevitable, resulting in a game over for the MPC/Force long term busyness model. So yea, charging too much can be very dangerous. Got both the Mini D and Flavor pro this time because it seems like a fair value for what you get. May get the OPx4 if it gets down to 50 at some point.

Was practice for what's to come, and/or a limited version of what was already available/achievable but not shown. (I saw potential in damn near every initial plugin)
The price point, this time, was bearable imo.

I went for the Mini D -- with that coupon code, its a good price, and saves me (for now) dropping 10x money on a Behringer Poly-D.

Spent a while trying to replicate the Baba O'Reilly patch that I found on youtube, but it's not right, so.....

Not quite as thumpy as my current fave Werkstatt (Get it, really, folks, awesome synth for the price), but I'm having fun exploring these patches.

Also have the OPx -- there was a flash sale on it. That's a much steeper learning curve. These plugins could use some amount of a manual to explain what's going on.....I only have so much patience for random button pushing.

The ‘analog’ knob increases the randomness on various internal parameters such as electronics noise, oscillator drift, oscillator phase lock - it's subtle (like very subtle), but crank it up. Also, you can get some pretty intense saturation if you engage and turn up the oscillator feedback - but it needs to be set correctly. The feedback taps the output and reinjects it before the filter - similar to the old minimoog trick of using the headphones jack output and patching it into the filter. It emphasizes the resonance, and if you have low resonance to start with, beefs up the signal. With small amounts of feedback it fattens up the sound quite a bit - with a lot of "BITE"! :-D When the PLUS (+) sign is visible and light turns blue it’s “Bite” feedback and when the MINUS ( - ) is visible its normal feedback… and it doesn’t clip the output. So try the “Bite” feedback for that awesome sound! :smoker:
