HeyO,

I have been off the MPC train for a bit and am looking to get one again. Curious if any of the recent updates have introduced the option to track audio from the MPC stand-alone to a DAW? Or any speculation if this is coming? Surprised we cant do this yet given the computer nature of the new MPC's. Please let me know if you know

Unfortunately, it is not possible right now to go directly to your daw via usb if you are in standalone, but you can use the mpc in controller mode as a plugin in your daw, but I think that is not what you want..

Been asking this for the past 18 months seems to be possible if akai made a breakout box of some sort that can handle up to 32 mono /16 stereo out to your daw for tracking.. Lampdog is right but for those that use cubase /Protools with mixer need it.. however I know it's not going to be possible but trying it tomorrow when my Motu LP32 ADat gets delivered want to see if it will work with my MPC X as an audio interface to my motu 828ES.. with AVB control.. it's class complaint but only with MAC need drivers for windows we will see.

I hope you didn't buy it solely for the purpose of using it with the MPC. MOTUs stuff isn't going to work, it's ONLY class compliant when it comes to MacOS/iOS with CoreAudio. Does not work without drivers on Windows and Linux won't even bother with it.

I'm planning on swapping my 828x for an LP32 and just getting another Ferrofish Pulse and going full ADAT I/O. That thing is pretty rad compared to RME's Digiface USB (no word clock, no meters, not even a volume knob for the headphone out) and its only $50 more too.

Just curious of the benefit of doing it this way versus opening your Project in Controller Mode as a plugin in your DAW? :hmmm:

I did and yes I did read MAC IOS .. I wanted to try and see if it would .. info out there some have got there 828es working if the LP32 doesn't work and I'm sure it's not going to I will just send it back.. cheaper than swapping out my audio interface and getting the LP32 ...

I'm sure failure but I'm hard headed lol..

I gwt what you mean and have use a template from Bolt which he setup I/O .. I use my DAW sometimes as a sound mod with VST's sequence into my X.. I don't want to open a plugin in my DAW to open plugins inside the MPC software just convoluted.. also resource hog... if I can't get it work then I will just have to track out or just use the vst's in my DAW afterwards I love the MPC swing but cubase quantize isn't that bad also..

I record audio tracks from standalone MPC to Cubase live by using iConnectAUDIO2+ soundcard, method inspired by another user here. One USB cable goes PC and another to MPC. It supports up to about 18 mono out routes this way (eg 6 stereo + 6 mono).
Manufacturer call it "Audio PassThru" and I dont think theres another soundcard that uses this tech, must be a patent or something. It also lets you send timecode both ways which is cool thing if you get to know how to sync your DAW properly with MPC. No longer available tho got mine second hand but worth a try imo. Not only recording, this way you can eg. mix real time the audio signals in empty DAW project - track levels, EQ, comp.. treating DAW as external mixer board

It really should be simply implemented by AKAI, like, its a hardware from 2021 cmon :Sigh:

Thanks for confirming the iConnectAudio interfaces work on a standalone MPC :smoker:
(I have an iCA4+ for ages and consider it one of my best purchases ever, a true workhorse)
It‘s actually 20 mono channels and you can configure any number of channels between the 2 hosts as long as the sum doesn‘t exceed 20. If you send 10 stereo busses from one device, the other can‘t send any.

It‘s not necessarily patented, but a very specific programming of a certain USB audio codec chip. All the data routing/control is done on the interface, not in the host OS.
The main flaw is a „not so intuitive“ control software (iConfig), but results are worth the effort to get behind this. The software definitely works as intended, I even could run the old iConfig on MacMini M1.
But iConnectivity has released the iConfig source into public domain and there‘s a project under the label „reConfig“.

Was that someone here? I haven't seen any reports of any MOTU's other than maybe the M2/M4 passably working without some serious hiccups. I have an 828x and when I plug it in the MPC flat out tells me it doesn't recognize it. MOTU is not known for being very 'Linux friendly' at all, and at one time were pretty hostile to people asking for Linux drivers. They are Mac first and foremost so everything works beautifully there. In the last maybe 10 years they've really ramped up their Windows support though, but even that is still not at the level the Mac support is. DP was pretty awful when it was first released for Windows, and most of their drivers throughout history had a pretty shaky start on 'the other OS' too. The firewire interfaces were a nightmare on the PC side of things and only worked if you had a particular TI firewire chipset on your motherboard.

I will let you know later on tonight ill plug it in if it recognizes the LP32 then I will see if it works via AVB and see if I get any pops and clicks if I do I'll box it up and send it back. Only way to know for sure is to try.. also I believe someone reported it worked on gearspace..

I got the Motu LP32 in updated the firmware I have to figure out how set it up with ADAT audio.. my MPC X did reconize my motu 828es .. however I still have my 8 out cables in will have to work on this tomorrow... a bit tired I will keep you posted on this one

Well it such a let down really is..I tried sending audio from my MPC X to the Motu LP32 ADAT the MPC reconizes the device and the matters indicate sound but nothing playing out all the time and when it does its either mono or a random track..

What a train wreck to think I'm going to get rid of my Motu and buy another audio interface is crazy I'll just stick with what I'm doing now so is 100% official

MOTU828ES & MOTU LP32 do not work and any working capacity..

If anyone says otherwise don't believe then as states vy other Motu driver needs to be tweaked...

Yes! I tried this and did not realize the experience is so seamless. this is perfect and will work better than I thought.

Only thing I can't figure out how to do when in controller mode is use the audio in's to sample directly into the MPC sampler. I can get the ext in audio to go to its own track in Ableton, but i want to be able to sample external synths and chop them in one go, just like i would stand alone. is this possible does anyone know?

Really loving the controller mode. i thought it would be more dependant on the computer but it is the same as using standalone so i can still work on my hardware without touching the computer, however, i can now use all my Arturia softsynths and FX from directly in the MPC. dope.
