Hi,

This is such a silly question that I really hope I've overlooked something obvious. Say that I'm building a live set with a fairly large number of sequences that I'm planning to perform by manually jumping from sequence to sequence, pattern jamming style.

And then I realize that i really should create a variation of Sequence 24 that's somewhere in the middle of the set. Is there any way for me to insert a sequence into the sequence list so that I don't have to create the variation at the end of the list and then go from Sequence 24 to Sequence 67 and then back again?

Note that I'm not talking about creating a song from sequences, just about inserting a sequence at a given point in the Sequence list. Any ideas?

Don't think this is possible, you can copy a sequence and choose the sequence number to copy it to, but you can't insert or easily rearrange sequences in the project list.

A nasty workaround would be to save the project and then open the [ProjectData] folder - inside you'll see the sequences 1.sqx, 2.sqx etc,so you can then manually re-number the sequences in the order you wish, so using your example, rename 67.sqx to 25.sqx, but that means renumbering everything from 25 onwards.

Or you can create a new project and import everything from the other project's [ProjectData] folder. When it comes to the sequences , just import in the order you wish - you can choose the destination when importing. This is probably the easiest option.

Drag and drop sequence order would be nice though, but don't hold your breath :)

 it sorta looks like there's some sequence-y looking stuff in MPC project .xal files as plain .XML -- if that's where sequence batting order stuff lives, an interesting "experiment" would be to add your sequence(s) as usual, then go edit the appropriate .xal file reordering as desired -- standard disclaimers apply

5+ years later and I still really need this feature. I've attempted to manually edit the files as described by MPC-Tutor and as far as I can tell it doesn't work. Does anyone know if there's a viable workaround for this?

copy all (later) sequences to a bigger number and then clear/delete the one sequence where you want to insert one

But it's not possible to copy/paste multiple sequences at once, is it? The question is asking for a way to re-order sequences without moving many sequences individually.

"of course" that is not possible - AKAI don't want it easy on you

No, no you cannot. It’s not a feature mentioned in any manual.
It’s not in any menu (standalone).
It’s not there.
It’s never been there.
Will it be?!?
Not there right now though.
Why, did someone say it was there?
Who?
