Hi, Ive copied over a number of albums to my MPC how do I protect these from being overwtitten when I start sampling? I would like to be able to have a bank that I can use in the future. Thanks!

I don't think MPC will overwrite samples outside of the project.

First of all, back your samples up properly.

But as Elijah said, MPC will never touch the original samples.

When you load samples into ram and then save a project they are resaved in the project folder. Normally hidden unless you change the setting

If you have a drum samples folder with a file called 909KICK.WAV and you load it in a project and save the project, you will then have a new copy of 909KICK.WAV in the project folder. It's the same with your albums. Using ArtistXAlbumBlahTrack1.wav as a sample in a project will create a new copy of ArtistXAlbumBlahTrack1.wav, and any editing of that sample in the project will only modify that project's copy of the file.

Try it out and look at the files on the disk.
