Yo, can you provide any proof the the images are from October 2020?

Look again just below the October 2020 date ... it also states June 2021.

The release could have been delayed by the massive fabrication shortage we had in 2021.

I'll b-wise & wait til after I know the new OS specs before I judge & try to predict poor sells of a unreleased device from Akai, a company making follow ups to their most innovative series of MPC's - plus its their 35 anniversary. I hope Akai learned from these current MPC's how to make the new models better & for a company that's been making a product for 35 years they gotta be doing something right - Just Imagine the current MPC's with the same hardware but more stable & 2x the power - that still insane! But what's in OS 3 is key!

Whenever a new device like this is leaked, people panic and are in denial that it’s real. My theory behind this is the fear that such a device if confirmed would make your MPC X outdated, meaning that you either deal with the fact that you will now have the “old” version and/or must now save money for the new one. Just my theory.

I would love the get those retro faceplates and side grips. Based on the exterior there is no need for me to upgrade. Still curious about the internals and possibly new software tough.

What a mess. So the MPC XL (X Retro) should appear together with the MPC Live II Retro.

At NAMM in April they will show XL, then in January at the next NAMM they will show more models?

They should determine the direction of development, will they develop MPC OS for older models, or will they create version 3 only for 4gb units.

That's what I am betting. If they really keep the outside looks exactly like the current X but in off-white only, then there is no selling point other than a new OS imho that is above and beyond from what the current os offers and that has to be incompatible with the current line so people will buy the new devices. Or they will keep selling the current line of MPCs next to the new ones and market them as "light" versions? I am unsure what to make of this really :hmmm: ... if those rumours are true I mean. I am still hoping for some FCC listing of a new X(L) that is not as anticlimactic. At the moment it feels like Akai/inMusic is out of ideas really. I might also just expect too much from inMusic. But I feel that there is still more innovation possible.

I don't believe that Akai will be that stupid to make the OS3 available only for 4gb ram devices. They will throw away a massive portion of their buying audience.

From what I understand All the new MPCS are built around Tablet guts like iPad or Samsung type. with pretty good INs and outs added.

Ever notice how the MPC X screen looks like a tablet and has touch screen like a tablet?

When you start with tablet parts you all this for free: Touch screen, Wi-Fi, Audio, Built in 16gb internal HD, able to run on batteries....

The guy that completely took his force apart said at its core It has Mid Range 2015 era tablet parts. :hmmm: :hmmm:

I took my X apart a while ago to change the XLR jack. The heart of the MPCs is a SoC that is screwed to the housing and everything else is connected via Molex or similar. The only delicate part is the bayonet connector of the wifi antenna. None of the connections is hot glued or anything. At least not in my 2020 X. I am not sure anymore but I think the internal disk is also just some SD card slotted into that SoC. Can anyone confirm? So in principle there’s nothing much to it regarding replacing that part with the new board assuming the interfaces on the new SoC are similar enough to the current one. I don’t know how the new SoC looks like but the K61’s is not too far off I have read?

Yes, generic 16GB micro SD card. People have even swapped it out for larger ones, works fine as long as it's formatted correctly and retains the correct folder structure.

The SOC originally came with a 4GB variant, I think that also had twice the CPU as well, while the MPC Key 61 has no such CPU improvement, so perhaps they are getting the board custom built these days.

As a casual observer it does seem crazy to skimp on these aspects given the relatively low costs of jumping up the ram and CPU spec to something pretty juicy, but beyond the economics I'm not sure exactly how simple a job it is to adapt everything to a different spec CPU (or completely different SOC). I've seen people claim it's a PITA so unlikely to happen until they decide to go all in for the 'next generation' hardware, which I don't think these alleged new MPCs are. No idea though, but from the leaks I'm assuming this MPC XL is just the original MPC X with different skin, 4GB ram, ethernet port (and maybe 'clicking' data wheel?) . Ultimately as things stand the MPC Key has more ram than the more expensive and supposed flagship, so that seems to be something they have to address one way or another.

But I'm surprised with all the talk of MPC 3.0 again, I always assumed this wouldn't come until the next generation hardware arrived. But like everyone else, I did see the 'leaked' MPC Software 3 placeholder on their store, so, let's see what happens.

I'm not sure your talking a bit out of my league SoC? :hmmm:

Here is the the video I'm sure you prob seen it before

The part about the Processor and ram is 15:55 to 17:37

He also found a microSD inside that's not accessible to users.

He did this almost a year ago and later said he found a supplier that had the same one with an upgraded 4gb of ram. (but I believe you have to buy in bulk prices like Alibaba style?

And what do ya know few months later the Keys 61 came out with those exact specs. :hmmm:
