Mpc Live Song mode length time?

Hi all,

Loving the Mpc live and the new updates etc. Although I need a lot of practice and further knowledge on mixing my beat I’ve enjoyed a couple of community’s and posted some beats. However, because I do not use a DAW does anyone know how to find or calculate song mode length?
Damn annoying as some of the sites state specific beat at 2 mins and others 1 min but I have to keep guessing, saving to sun then checking length on PC and if over the limit cutting it down again in Mpc. If this is not an option in the Libe then please Akai sort this in next update, surely some internal maths can calculate the length of my beat?

So look at the tempo and the number of bars and use some basic math skills to figure it out? Otherwise export it as a new sequence like you're supposed to and just look at the time at the top of the screen.

Its would probably be best for you to convert the song to a sequence and then you can adjust a cut out or squeeze in to achieve t your time goal.

Just dragging this thread out of the depths to see if theres been any further update on this? I don't export songs as a single sequence as I find it difficult to try and work on a single 4 min+ sequence with a 7" screen (a DAW it isn't). I know another workaround is to instigate a song save to MP3 and look at the length there but surely it wouldn't be too hard to put song length in mins/secs somewhere on the song screen? The MPC already knows the tempo, number of bars and number of sequences. Jeez, the SMPTE time box on the home screen of my 1990 Cubase software had all I needed to know re song length!

Just because you convert it to a new seq doesn't mean you have to edit it there.

Go back to the original song arrangement and edit there.

I'm aware of song length calculators, I just don't really want to go onto a website and enter some data when I just want to do a quick check of song length. I'm clearly missing a fundamental reason as to why such a simple thing as a timecode marker doesn't seem to be available within the MPC.

Re creating one long sequence just to see song length, it seems as much of a crutch as doing a 'fake save' to MP3 to see song length. And re editing, if I was going to 'go back' to the original sequences to re-arrange, I'm not sure why I would bother creating a conv>seq in the first place.

It's not a huge problem, I'm just amazed that such a massively powerful machine doesn't have such a simple thing as a time code, especially when it was available on standard music production software over 30 years ago

Lol, absolutely no intention of contacting AKAI about it, if they haven't done it already then theres no chance. Like I said, I must be missing something. I assume it's on every DAW on the planet now (no idea, haven't used one since 1999) so no idea why it's not on MPC's.
