Erase all notes on pad while playing

Hi all, I assume this is a basic and easy question but for some reason I can't figure out the answer.

I have a drum program and while my sequence is playing I wanted to remove all notes on the closed hi hat pad. I don't want to have to go into grid view and drag a box around all hi hat notes and click erase. I know I can enter erase mode when the sequence is stopped, but how do I do this while it's playing? I tried the delete button but that seemed to remove the pad from the program.

Hold down the erase button, press play start and then hold down the pad you want to erase from the track. As the sequence passes events associated with that pad it will erase the events

Another way is go into grid view hit the pad. It will select all notes for that pad. Then press shift then press the cut button on bottom of screen

Thanks, but what if I record notes in a pad then decide that I want to erase all of them, all while the sequence is playing? Then I can't use the erase button because to enter this mode the sequence needs to be stopped?

I know I can use undo, but in this specific example, I was entering notes for multiple pads as one overdub, so hitting undo would have removed all of those notes.

You can use ERASE on the fly, all the time while the sequence is playing. Hold ERASE and the pad. Don‘t doubt it before you tried it. The TUI manual (I checked 2.9) states on every device page (e.g. p.23):

10. Erase: As a Sequence is playing, press and hold this button and then press a pad to delete the note event for that pad at the current playback position. This is a quick way to delete note events from your sequence without having to stop playback. When playback is stopped, press this button to open the Erase window where notes, automation and other sequence data can be erased from the sequence. See Operation > General Features > Erase to learn more.

Snark aside, this does help me a little but if you had read my post, I want to remove all the notes from a pad. Your method removes at the playhead, so I need the sequence to fully play through before the notes are all removed.

Main>grid edit>push pad>all notes are highlighted>shift>cut.

Very fast and you don't need to stop the sequencer.

If you open the ERASE dialog first, start playing, and then press DO IT, the notes will disappear, so I guess it's technically possible.

Fast would be:
- Hold Erase > Tap Pad once

Fast for erasing the whole track would be: Shift-Erase = double-press Erase

There's always Undo, so it doesn't need to be hidden behind multiple button presses.

The hold-buttons-and-wait-until-the-playhead-wipes-things-off (for example, 4 or 8 bars) thing is painfully slow, and in all sequencers I have ever used, I usually mess it up and a few hits are left unerased, so I have to hold down the erase buttons/pads/keys for at least one bar longer to be sure. And even then there is practically always some error. I totally hate the whole idea.

There's also the erase function from the main edit screen. Hit the 1st pencil icon on the main page then press erase. Select the "note" option and press the pads you want to delete then press do it. Everything mentioned here can be done while the sequencer is still running.

I wonder what they tried to achieve by making the ERASE and DELETE buttons do nothing in most cases.

I really need this feature on MPC!! This is literally the worst aspect of this entire box! Why do I have to tap small buttons on the touch screen to do this!!!

Delete : never will use in performance, pretty useless. Will use pad assign instead wtf

Erase as it is now : will never use because its way too slow

Undo is only good when you first input, but it also picks up qlink and i am usually doing both, so i have to press undo a bunch of times for it to even do something useful.

Please please please we need faster erase and adding these shortcuts would bring MPC to an entirely new level
