You make that sound like its a bad thing?!

The OG MPCs were SOLID, and that's all we're asking -- Iron out the bugs and make the OS solid. Stop adding fluff.

Quality > Quantity everytime

Where I think Akai is failing is trying to turn the MPC into a DAW or trying to compete with them. It feels like they're just focused on adding as much features as possible, without addressing stability, and that's where I disagree. First you have to have a solid foundation, then you can build off of it.

But people these days just love shiny things

I really do think that alot of complaining comes from not understanding your hardware and think it suppose to be the like the competitors.. yes the MPC's have some bugs.. but it hasn't stop me from making a beat in 5 to 10 mins and then build midtown and master if need in wavelab pro... I think all the complainers and some have legit grips need to sit next to legacy MPC user and current line MPC and see who can create a basic 16 bar beat for fun and see who finishes faster with precise results if u know what your doing.. legacy MPC's effecter were limited and had no automation.. relax and enjoy..

Everything can't be everything else, correct. That's the base of the frustration some feel. I'm just as comfortable making beats on my 4k and my X, I see fun in all my machines. Bugs don't brick wall stop me either.

There are sometimes disagreements and heated debates, but sometimes the are just volatile or antagonistic individuals who persist to turn discussions sour.

I'm often of two minds. I can find complaints about just about everything I use. But I can also appreciate just how much we have and how awesome it is.

For me as fresh ish blood (had an mpc3000 many years ago), the MPC is awesome.

I love the experience.

It's enough to make me use it over everything else I've got for the last 2 months.

I don't think I'll sell my Native Instruments licenses and hardware (maybe get rid of one more NI controller), but it crosses my mind pretty often.

I don't think there's a single offering that is without any shortcomings (otherwise everyone would use it). I had to weigh all of these issues when making my purchase.

There's no need to polarise.

We should be able to see the good and bad.

100%

And to the other comment critiquing Akai trying to jam pack features - I actually get a lot out of that. Like, "Oh damn, I can modulate AND sequence modular stuff with CV? Nice. Oh damn, I can autosample key group programs from any plugin or hardware synth? Nice. Oh damn, I can assign and automate any effects parameter to these Qlinks? Nice. Oh damn, I can do the same with a submix/bus? Nice. Oh damn, I can have different samples trigger at different times on the same pad? Nice. Oh damn, I got a step sequencer in here? Nice. Oh damn, all these built in plugin effects sound nice? Nice. Oh damn, I can unplug my MPC Live 2 and walk around my place and have fun with it anywhere? Nice. Oh damn, I got enough stuff in here I can pretend to make hiphop? Nice. Oh damn, I got enough stuff in here I can pretend to make techno? Nice. Oh damn, I can chain patterns and mute things in and out to make it sound like the noise I'm making is intentional and coordinated and orchestrated? Nice. Oh damn, I can turn off all the lights while everyone is asleep, and I can still make noise with this thing (backlights, screens, etc)? Nice.

Meanwhile our ancestors were pulling guts out of animals to make strings for their guitars, and make drum heads for their bongos by cutting off the stomachs of goats. Making music today is way more fun and less gross!

Oh damn, I can't even re-order tracks? Not Nice. Oh damn, I can't even re-order effects? Not Nice. Oh Damn, I can't even have a free running LFO? Not Nice, Oh Damn I can't even assign the whole keygroup program filter cut-off to a modwheel directly? No Nice, Oh Damn converting a song to a sequence in order to export separate tracks so I can mix into my DAW is broken? Not nice. But hey at least you've got them paid mini moog plugins in there/s

And FYI Guitars are still guitars, and it's irrelevant as to what AKAI developers should actually focus on to improve their goddamn products.

At least you're still a fan, so that's cool. Minimoog plugin is dope!

:WTF:

Let me just ask this -- to all the people hating on me... How many hours do you spend on your MPC?

What's the longest you've spent on it, be honest....

I know there is the one guy above all proud that he can make a 16 bar beat in 10 minutes, ok.... 10 Minutes  .

Then what, you turn off your MPC and go into your DAW? That's fine, but have you ever performed a multi-hour live show on it?

Have you ever had it on for a full 12-hour day while in the studio with other artists trying to collab on something?

Talk to me about stability, come on, I want to hear the answers...

With the OG MPCs, you could leave them on for hours and not have to worry about crashes/odd behavior. With these new MPCs, you MUST reboot them, no matter what. It always gets to that point. I'm not saying they're complete trash -- otherwise I wouldn't have spent $2,400 on an MPC X. I just wish they would focus a little more on making the OS STABLE and then start adding your shiny little plugins and features...

Jeeze

:Sigh:

Yes to to all your answers I have worked on my MPC 2000,3000 when I had 2500 and yes the X for 12 hours and also left overnight for live sets no I have not but what are u doing wrong? In a live set are your turning off autosave? When writes to you HD ever 5 mins default.. you don't know what your doing yes there bugs but for example if your writing a paper in word and it 10 pages long are you just free writing or save as u go.. if your MPC is crashing what do you have in your folders that could cause the crash in standalone.. idk just make beats and enjoy what u have ..better idea get some drums bass, electric and acoustic guitars and a keyboard that will solve your problem. Then when it sounds like shit blame yourself

Debating stability of modern mpcs is pointless. Lack of quality control translate to some good ones, some bad ones. Just because you came off with a joint that rarely crashes dont mean all units are stable. Ive had 2 bad Ones and a semi-stable One and an X. More often than not, my asr10 has gone longer than either one without hiccups. My 2000xl and 3000 have gone days without reboots. My x or One aint doin that.

Inmusic wipes their asses with your hard earned greenbacks, and you know it.

Blind brand loyalist get the gas face.
