I agree if this does not kick off a new era MPC software (stable af) I don’t know who’s gonna fall for this other than the social media crowd..
A facelift and spec bump is annual release schedule type stuff.

I really feel like it could go either way at the moment!

Hopefully it will be a nice software update to 3.0 with arranger etc and nice new hardware and not what is being leaked.

or is this Akai trying to get rid of the original X models gathering dust in the warehouse that they had returned with faults, giving them a new Faceplate and hoping nobody notices

Akai should start a trade in service: submit you MPC X and pay a fee depending on it’s condition and receive an MPC XL.

The submitted X can be recycled for parts to build MPC XLs.

No point wishing for better quality hardware, the new MPCs are minimum cost, minimum SoC board and buggy software. They're pretty good and pretty cheap. But laptop and DAW does more. I've been sitting the LIVE II on my lap watching TV and other than the pads and outputs, a laptop is better -and with full length audio tracks and every feature missing in MPC software. The MPC have a place, but no one will pay for quality hardware like they used to.

Despite these supposedly being 'musician' tools, Akai is pretty much just marketing these as the latest greatest new toy for YouTubers to jump on. I think they could care less about actual musician's using these, unless its someone they've got on their payroll to tell us in a YT video how awesome it is and how its a GAME CHANGER (when it hasn't been remotely close). They don't care who has one or what they can actually do with it, or how long they even last, as long as everybody buys one.

Yes they are just toys for wannabe producers trying to hip and hop around.

Yep. That's 99.9% of us.

And if not for the 99.9% of us wannabes buying these instruments, they wouldn't exist for the small handful of producers who actually make a living with these instruments.

Sort of. They are not marketing these FOR YouTubers to jump on. They (like other gear manufacturers) are PARTNERED with the YouTubers to make their big marketing push. Akai isn't nearly as bad as some of the other ones when it comes to paying YouTubers to peddle their products.

Exactly!! And so was every other mpc ever since the 2000.. and I really don't get the disappointment.. what is wrong with it? The build is great, I mean it is cheap but so was my 1000, this is atleast as nice.. sure the pads are hard to get to, but so was the 1000.. unless you want a huge tank that can't do much but sample twenty seconds, I think it is as good as anything.. there are boutique brands like isla and synthstrom, but they will be worse in ten years when you need parts and they probably won't be around anymore...
Elektron has had bad problems with their new stuff so I don't think they are any better.. I don't know.. stuff isn't what itt used to be I guess??

They do crash very rarely, I guess if you are trying to do a show maybe use a roland fantom or something.. this is more for producing I think. They're is too much going on in here to expect it rock solid software.. find the right tool for the job.. this thing is a producers wet dream though.

That gives me an idea then....

Lets all start youtube channels and complain about how buggy the OS is -- maybe that way we can get their attention!

/s <-- adding this in because I know someone here will think I am serious and get offended

I would just like to know ASAP if the older MPC's will be crippled compared to the New ones.

Like is it gonna be $200 to get 3.0
Or will the older ones run 3.0 Light or something.

Will there be $500 worth of software that the older machines have to pay for.

MPC X's are dipping down to $800 range. Looking tasty.
How much further can the market be pushed down?

The prices I've seen

MPC Touch $250
MPC Live $350
MPC Live2 $600 (Retros Seem to be + $200)
MPC One $400 (Retros seem to be +$300)
MPC X $850

How far can an XL release crush this market? we gonna see $500 X's in July? $200 MPC ones?

Also seems strange the Force has been just sitting there holding a $1000 very little downward pressure. No Fire sales like the X

I kinda want to dump my force but Im holding out to see if AKAI has some MoJo instore for 3.0

or More Importantly IF @MPCTUTOR Releases a GD FORCE Bible! (ill prepay)

It looks like they are selling around $1300, maybe one sold for that.. there is one right now at $900 but it is in Japan, which has is own set of problems and expenses. They're still always be that crazy deal that might happen at the right place and time, but that is not the normal.

The Force was initially sold at $1500 and quickly went down to $1000 , in retail. so no, no downard pressure  ... plenty of $800 Forces on the second hand market. Where exactly did you find a fully functioning $850 MPC X? $600 MPC Live 2? $350 MPC Live though? I'm curious /s
