No fully functioning MPC X or MPC Live are selling at these prices. If you see those prices then these are scams, not deal. If you're point was to boast about how the Force "didn't loose value" then factually this isn't true.

Don't take my word for it....
Lucky for you and me There is a function called "Completed Items" on eBay

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R ... Complete=1

https://www.ebay.com/sch/619/i.html?_fr ... Complete=1

That clearly shows 4+ sold at $350 ish Recently. in good working condition.

Now about the Force.
You're right! They have been going around $600-$700 used these days.

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R ... Complete=1

But I was referring to new...
A new Force has been $1000 for over a year and currently AKAI is dropping MPCs Prices all over the place. (last week they dropped Brand new X's by $500)
I'm just surprised they didn't drop new forces down to like $800 ...but as someone said they were $1500 at release so they already are slashed. (which I didn't know I first started looking into this generations akai market in 2020 and Force was $1200 New then)

If you need an extra set of eyes out for anything let me know I may see it. in my interweb adventures.

Those are all bids.. I mean yes if you have them patience then you can get one cheap, two out of hundreds each month are selling cheap it looks like..
Most people don't have that kind off patience though.. plus it is a risk it will even come.. I'm sure the sellers aren't happy with how those ended.

If someone is not into touch screens they should look for something else. Think before you buy is a real shyt.
You can only buy what's currently there. Wishing on updates is not a life guarantee, but, updates are always a welcome thing, updates that break something else, well you'd never know upon initial purchase unless the company has a HISTORY OF flowers UP and that's also a think before you buy type thing.

We all still buy it regardless. How do I know, because your reading this, on this forum, maybe near a powered on mpc (me too).
.

That not answering my question, what if that person that's not into touch screen just for 1 year stop focusing on how much they don't like it & instead used it, would they still have as much as an gripe with it?

Adapting to new tech take time to get use to is a thing too.

Another way to think about is, if a touch screen was on the MPC60/3000 would the people that use those still be complaining about it now on the current MPC's?

Maybe, but most would likely be comfortable with it because they would've been using it for years & if Akai made new MPC without a touch screen most would complain about how their not into non touch screen.

The Good Thing about everyone concerns is....

Akai Made it possible, that if you don't like a particular feature, you have the option to NOT use that function! I can Navigate with or without the Touch screen. Make a Sequence with or without the Step Sequencer. Make the Same beat in Standalone OR Software. We can Learn Music theory OR use Pad Performance. If you run out of RAM in Standalone, Import that Joint to Software. We can Save our Sh*t to SD, HDD, USB, etc.....The List is Endless.

Akai has given us different Options to achieve the same goal. And here we are complaining that Akai gave us Multiple Options

You guys are something

It's the things they haven't given us that I'm more concerned about.

The ability to select multiple elements in grid without an external keyboard.

A button to delete highlighted notes without an external keyboard.

A button to allow dragging a copy of highlighted notes in grid

The ability to delete programs from the Project screen. Oh no. Load that program onto a track and then delete it.

Entry fields that don't return to the top after every input. Scrolling through 100s of files to get to the next element in the list is a pita.

Being able to cut copy and paste files and folders within the file browser. That's pretty basic.

Some pretty basic quality of life fixes that will never be addressed.

But I don't regret buying it.

But little things niggle.

B-Wise wrote:Now for "legit gripes" like crashes then yes it would be illogical not demand a fix, but for things that's within your power to overcome with practice, or by finding a workaround, like hating the touch screen, you can work on stuff like that by forcing yourself to use it more for 1 year. if a touch screen-hater did that, would using the screen still be as much as an gripe 1 year after consistent practice?

Another example (& I'm not taking shots, just using this example because it was recent in this thread),
yes the old step-seq may had been "better", but if for a year someone practiced playing the piano they may not need the step-seq as much. So by the end, the artist would have 1 skill learned or improved on & 1 less thing to complain about or at least not be as dependent on that feature. The choice for what to focus your attention on is yours & it's only for 1 year.

Now, which artist would be better 1 year later; the 1 that consistently practice or the 1 that chronically complains?

If anything just keep a complaint list until the year is over then let all hell break lose for any remaining gripes :fku:

Monotremata wrote:Makes perfect sense, but a bad workflow and GUI is still a bad design choice regardless of how well someone plays the piano.

You would rather just bend over and take it and let the manufacturer do what they want as opposed to attempting to get them to make it work better? I mean, that's the whole reason companies take comments and suggestions from customer service, they know nothing is perfect.

You quoted me saying "Now for "legit gripes" like crashes then yes it would be illogical not demand a fix" so that not bending over & letting the manufacturer do what they want.

A bad workflow is the customer problem & something that's up to the user to create & redesign until it's right.
A bad GUI is the company fault & is something the user can choose not to buy until it's right (if ever).

Now for gear that was good enough to buy even though it has things that you may not like or in the case of the step-seq (something that I don't really need because I rec pads & keys in real-time & use the Clip/List editor afterwards) that's the type of stuff my question was getting at. So I'll ask again...

Which artist would be better 1 year later; the 1 that consistently practice on their musical weak points or the 1 that chronically complains about features that suck but are mainly used because of the user musical weak points?

Remember it's only for 1 year & plus, it's a "what if" kind of question so you don't even have to do it (practice for 1 year on improving your skills in the craft that you love - the horror  ) but just think about & still choose what's the best way to focus your energy on.

Show me how you can select every other hit on a running hihat? Only way I've been able to do it is using shift on a usb keyboard.

A button to delete highlighted notes without an external keyboard.

Works. But highlighting notes then maybe shift/erase would be very useful.

A button to allow dragging a copy of highlighted notes in grid
I highlight notes then use my Main Knob to drag with the Nudge activated. That drags existing notes. It won't drag a copy? Think alt in controller mode.

The project screen. The one that shows you all programs and samples etc. Where you can delete and purge samples. You can't delete a program here. That's baffling.

Entry fields that don't return to the top after every input. Scrolling through 100s of files to get to the next element in the list is a pita.
You got me on this one

Coming from jjos I could scroll to sample 1 on pad 1. Then select pad 2 and scroll up one and rinse and repeat instead of starting from the first sample everytime.
Even deleting samples. I can't select multiples so I delete sample 89. Then scroll all the way back to delete sample 90. It's tedious.

Being able to cut copy and paste files and folders within the file browser. That's pretty basic.
I'm pretty sure you can do that in Software Mode

Aye. But being able to select a folder cut and move it from Sd to SSD isn't an unreasonable feature.

My Bad Bruh

Yup both of those would be a great addition.

It's the little quality of life changes that have been ignored over 7 years of updates that bug me. Refining the workflow shouldnt be forgotten over adding new features.

Being able to navigate the grid with arrows and scroll wheel would be handy. As would entering events without the playhead running.

The arrows and scroll wheel already do stuff. It would be too confusing for them to do multiple things.. it has to be 5th grader level easy to understand.

Scroll along with jogwheel. Tap pad. Scroll to next position hit another pad.

Or try and hit a tiny square with finger/stylus then nudge and transpose it I to position because you miss first time.

Suppose you don't miss what you never had.

Not easy to get a decent screen video.

I had a 1000.. and no I don't miss it.
And that looks awful.. paint by numbers, why not just use a tracker if you're gonna make music like that?

I will take the touch screen piano roll anyday!!
