Connecting mpc one to internet with usb

I have used my old honor7 s-phone to re-activate plugins on my mpc one[b][/b] (wifi hotspot> connect with usb)(also works with mobile data) and i've thought that this is common function in smartphones.
Recently i bought a new phone, Xiaomi 11t and my mpc say: usb device not supported. I quess this function works only in certain (older?)versions of android Os.
So, my question is: Have you connected your mpc to internet in this way and if so, what os. you have?

I've used my Samsung phone to connect my mpc one. When I plug it in , mpc says "usb device not supported", but I set "usb tethering" on the phone and the mpc does connect to wi-fi.
