Combining sequences with varying tempos

Has anyone found a way to merge sequences successfully when they don’t share tempos, without painstakingly resequencing everything? I have one seq using tracks 1-10 at c.60bpm, another using tracks 17-25 at c.180bpm, I thought that by using event copy or by making a song out of the two sequences and copying into the blanks I’d get somewhere but the tempo change kills it each time…

Not all MPCs…. Once upon a time, in-sequence tempo changes were implemented. I know, pointless banging on about the past, but…

Frustrating that even using patterns isn’t tempo-independent.

Not impossible, but not at all practical, is using midi loopback. Last time I went on about that, i put everyone to sleep, so I consider a non-solution.

You can double or halve the speed of events, so maybe if you mess with that and the time signature you can come up with some satisfying results. A tempo track would not fix anything in your case.

Somehow I found it easier with the tempo track to do the required programming for overlapping sequences. Yes the half and double function is handy but when you’ve got a factor of 3 in the tempo difference it’s no use. Where’s George Martin and Geoff Emerick when you need them…
