Ok thanks for that clearing that up. I don't really follow it like that. Only was interested in this 1 because of MPC rumors. I thought they had like 3 a year. So this 1 is delayed.

Traditionally NAMM takes place in January (which is why we've seen so many other audio product launches happening via media/websites), but due to the pandemic, everything got thrown outta whack. Now they are slowly going back to the normal programming, with NAMM coming back to January next year.

That's why -- as i've said, even if a lot of people don't show up to NAMM, they can still release products through their own websites and the media.

That's a good catch though, and I think you are onto something!

Another thing I thought of is -- looking at the Timbaland MPC Live II... it's just a normal Live II with a custom boot screen. I am guessing this is the way they are trying to get rid of old stock

Also, with the X removed from the InMusic store, I wonder if they're taking remaining X's and "upgrading them" into XLs and then will repackage and sell those as XLs. In other words, I wonder if the changes between the X and XL are simple enough that one could reuse the X shell and just "upgrade" or swap a few components, or if the changes are significant enough to require a new machine altogether?

If the former, it would be cool if Akai sold an "XL upgrade kit" for us X owners. I definitely want that retro faceplate.

All this sounds like good points, but then why just Timberland & not Premo, Alchemist, Arab music (since he did all them sound packs)...etc?
Nothing against Timberland, but when I think of the MPC, I don't think of him, others may feel differently & that's cool, but why him if they're trying to using a celebrity to motivate $ells. Damn, imagine a Dilla or DOOM MPC

Your right if you ever seen Timberland in the studio he was always in front of a keyboard, such as open labs keyboard and others.. but he is a producer and a dam good one.. If they wanted Premo or Alchemist it would probably be a hefty price but they would be the ones to market the MPC line since they are standalone sample base producers..

Isn't it Timbaland because ultimately this is a joint promotion with Akai to push (Timbaland's) 'BeatClub'?If you buy the Timba MPC Live you also get 12 months Beatclub membership, but only for 'new beatclub members', so clearly this is all about getting new sign ups, of which I assume Akai get a referral % (I assume it's a similar arrangement with Splice).

I get that, but I was making a counter point to Akai using him to sell leftover MPC Live 2s. That's why I asks, If that was the case why 'just' him? meaning they could've used him '&' other producers.

Also, even though I'm a bigger fan of Alchemist over Timbaland, I don't see AL being more expensive than Tim, now with Premo that's a total different thing & your point about him being too expensive make sense but I think a Arab MPC would be doable & would generate more sells than a Timbaland MPC even with the beat club deal.
