So when there launching it all the Youtubers can hype this thing the f#ck up lol

If the MPC XL is the same as the MPC X then why does Andy Mac need to demo the product cos there is nothing new to show so why visit the influencers

Doesn't Akai have other MPC's besides the XL they need to promote?

PS - jpeg, I'm still waiting on that example beat. After all that back & forth, how you gonna just leave me hanging like that? :smh:

I think i missed that what example are u referring to?

also regarding multiple MPC's the MPC XL is exactly the same as the X; and the MPC One MK" is exactly the same as the MPC One; for all intents and purposes, the upgrades seem so miniscule that they should not require Andy Mac's presence.

Maybe Andy is good at blagging free trips to the US on company expenses  I agree, the MPC X update on its own does not seem worthy of a worldwide influencer tour, so perhaps something else is happening (other than the leaked MPC One update).

If it is, then it's escaped the need for an FCC test report, so would not have bluetooth or wifi. Maybe the MPC Mini is a thing.

But yeah, the MPC X update is just a bit underwhelming, (but expected, in terms of the 4GB ram update to match the Key 61), but that 2400 EUR price tag :Sigh:

Anyway, looking forward to see something exciting and innovative coming to the MPC world, whenever that may be.

Andy Mac's world tour of the big youtubers does seem really strange, expecially as it coincided with all the MPCXL rumours but maybe the big secret release is going to be the 3.0 software.
Maybe 3.0 is going to be a big leap forward rather than the incremental steps we've seem with all the 2.something releases.

Also with Andy Mac's recent post about something "exciting" coming this year in his 35th anniversary post on MPCGang's facebook page, it all seems to be building up to something, somewhere, somehow, somebody must know :)

.....fingers crossed for the killer feature to be :hdmi: :hdmi: :hdmi: :hdmi: :hdmi: :hdmi: :hdmi: :hdmi: :hdmi: :hdmi:

Because they are in business to sell hardware, and by extension - sell software updates for said hardware (hence the optional paid plugin model they shifted to last year). If they supported their hardware for 16 years as you suggest, no one would have any reason to buy/upgrade to new hardware (not to mention the limits the old hardware that would put on new software that they need to sell). It would literally stymie software (read: plugin and new OS) innovation.

Let me ask you this: are you still using the same computer you had 16 years ago? :hmmm: If you are, then congrats - but the vast majority of us buy/upgrade to new hardware at some point. Take a look at how many new AAA-title games were being developed specifically for the PlayStation 2 back in 2016 (very little to none). There's a reason for that.

At some point a company has to call it a day on a product they sell in order to innovate and move new products off the shelf. Akai/InMusic are exactly that. And despite InMusic/Akai bearing little resemblance to the Akai of the 1980's/90's, the Akai of the 80's/90's business model was literally the same in that regard (they have that in common anyway). Sell new hardware. Deprecate the old at some point.

I'm just saying, your suggestion that Akai supports their hardware for 16 years will never happen in any universe. I'd love to be wrong, though. Earmark this post for the year 2033 and let me know how it works out. :-D

*EDIT: I'm amend my post and say that the original X came out in 2017, and as of 2023 - is still being supported with software updates. That's 6 years so far, which is pretty good for a piece of niche music hardware. Would be great to see it supported for at least a few more (same with the OG MPC Live). :worthy:

I feel you about the updates being miniscule, but Apple taught us not to underestimate people's need to have new toys even if the changes is miniscule...I'm still rock a phone from around 2019, so I'm not their intended customer & but I'll survive.

Re; the example beat. Check out my last post on the thread titled "MPC Plugins" viewtopic.php?f=48&t=215737&start=30#p1862986

You said dope beats can be made with unedited presets if the melody is dope, I agreed with u & asks for an example & I also give a link to 1 of my beats as an example.
