Reinstall factory content into internal storage

Guys and gals,
the installation instrutions are clear. All synth are on the internal SSD drive. Perfect!

Extract from the file "Readme.pdf" in the installation folder:
"Note: For maximum convenience, we recommend you install a SATA drive in the drive bay of your
standalone MPC or Force and then copy the Synths folder onto this drive. MPC One does not have a
SATA drive bay; for MPC One we recommend you install the folder onto a SD card."

Is there a list of files/folders somewhere of the operating system content that should be on internal memory? Which files should be on there and which should I put on SSD? What about temp folder? I can't find any info on best practices on this

Hello everybody,

Hopefully someone can help me out. I bought a 2nd hand MPC X but it seems that the factory content is missing. Only the demo's are left in place

Can somebody send me a link to the restoration files? I would not know how to re install...

Hopefully this wil be read :worthy:

You're in a bit of a pickle. Log into your Akai account, and register the MPC X to it (using its serial). You should be presented with a list of content available for your X then (various Expansions, etc). I'd upgrade to the latest firmware and see if that helps. Otherwise, you're in quite the pickle, as Akai no longer provides access to the factory content (especially for second-hand owners).

On my MPC Live (1) the factory expansions are here, notice it's 'internal-sd', not 'internal'

/media/az01-internal-sd/Expansions

Inside that are three folders (Vault 2, Instruments and Clips).

Some further investigation:
Root folder of the content needs to be:
/media/acvs-content/Expansions/Demos

And inside this folder you need:
Demos (folder)
Templates (folder)
com.akaipro.mpc.expansion.mpconedemos.jpg
Expansions.xml
NewProjectDialog.json

Managed to source the autorun files, had no luck with the factory content files.
The factory content files are identical minus the NewProjectDialog.json.

I could share the contents of that file here if permitted?

NB: If the folder /media/acvs-content/Expansions/ does not exist, as was my case, the autorun will just exit without copying files. Just create it over SSH.

I agree, I’m annoyed by all that sh*t being on my MPC and apparently you can’t really delete because it messes with the system. That’s a really stupid conception of an operating system (early Windows XP stupid) and my one big wish for 3.0 (apart from being able to switch around fx slots and tags and favourites in the browser) is that the factory content can just be deleted without messing up everything.

You can delete it manually with shift + delete but dont shift + format the internal drive. Dont shift delete the parent folders, just the expansions themself. its a myth that it will break your mpc, maybe in some previous rom but i think its more akin to folks deleting the folders on the internal or completely wiping it.

How is it bothering you that there's content on there that you don't have to access lol. That sounds more like OCD lol.
When I go to my browser on my MPC, I click Places, select my SD or SSD. Gigabytes of free sounds on an Internal Drive sounds like a Good Selling Point.

That’s awesome and I will try this asap

Yes it may be a bit OCD’ish but I hate the clutter that results from all the sounds that I don’t use.
I guess tags and favourites would help a bit…
