Support and discussion for all of Akai’s modern standalone MPCs including the MPC X / X SE, MPC Live 1, 2 & 3, MPC One / One+, MPC Key 37/61.

What if most potential buyers have never even heard about MPCs at all, or that they're still being developed. And existing MPC users are a small minority of the audience that Akai is trying to reach. I know a lot of DAW users who have no idea what an MPC is. If you already know it, why are you still watching these youtubers, they are not for you. Make music and unsubscribe from bullshit channels.

This here:
THXjay wrote:The one thing that is really annoying me (and probably you too) is all these youtubers and even Andy Mac, talking about this like it's some new MPC. Andy's demo for Andertons is completely pointless, he spends 99% of the time telling us about all the great features that we already have on the entire MPC range, some from years ago!

The target audience for the youtube videos, you're not in it. Unsubscribe and click "do not recommend channel". Problem solved. Really. Try it. Nothing of value will be lost. Try it even for one month. Can you do it? I have, highly recommended. You do not need MPC youtuber shit.

The youtubers are obviously raving over it as they got it for free!!!!

I've got no problem with them releasing a retro edition for the birthday but just call it that and stop pretending it's some groundbreaking new technology, it's 2gb of friggin ram and some gray paint :)

I'm glad that it does seem to show that Akai is still intending to support these for the next few years, which is more than they did for MANY previous products of theirs. I look forward to 3.0 and hope it is what we expect it to be. Maybe the next generation of MPC in a year or two will be the big push forward.....hopefully!

.....they never made all this fuss when they released the gold X a while back?????

I felt the same way especially Bolo who owns the X ... was like this dope.. I'm like own this already... the influencer should have been like your saving a ton of money and your getting all the plugins.. they kept taking about the color ..I know my MPC 3000 doesn't have black knobs... they put 20 plus black knows when they should have been two tone gray.. it's a great purchase those who wanted the X.. I paid whe it released $2,059.00 with the discount from guitar center at the time so $2,500 is not bad for what you get..

Looking for the parts for the se to see the cost of the 4gb board...

Still, I think it's just an appetizer for the next gen.

this is the next gen bro 3 mpcs due this year, MPC X SE; is the first out the gate, then the MPC One plus, which in the same trend as the X SE will be a very minor improvement.

and the wild card is the speculative MPC mini which is not really aimed at existing MPC users its more of an entry level standalone MPC aimed at the consumer /dabbler market.

So I suppose it will MPC Lite

Maybe you're right, but no new gen MPC started as a SE they always do that later if I'm not mistaken.
It reminds me of when the blue 2xl with CF card reader come out.

I'm gonna be honest. I watched 2 or 3 videos of influencers yesterday.

I think it's genuinely funny how hard they tried to justify this thing as a life changing device.

"MPC X SE. GOAT! 4GB OF RAM. THE COLOR" Past videos: "NATIVE INSTRUMENTS SHOULD DO MORE! THE SP-404 UPDATE IS BAD".

The same happens with VST's. "Nah, only samples or real instruments". "BRO THESE AKAI PLUGINS!"

A great guily pleasure but not to be taken seriously. I hope some of them at least take advantage of the situation and get some cash by selling their "outdated" X's.

And it's cool to see a guy like Marlow get featured on the website and all. Most of them are probably really cool and chill guys.

We all know it’s just marketing talk….

Here’s how I see the SE

Akai probably had a load of dead/Faulty X s stockpiled in the workshop

“Hey let’s disassemble the dud units, put a new Retro faceplate on it and load them with all the current plug ins add a bit more ram, that’ll work

Bam….suckers will be lining up for the grey faceplate edition as we’ll cash in on the nostalgia vibe as we know it gets people all warm inside and we’ll mark up the price so they think there getting a ground breaking MPC,oh we’ll also fool them it’s going to be a ltd edition and prey on peoples fear of not getting one later on down the line

I’ll stick with my Key 61

Most likely yes. Recycling gear and marketing to sell more X.

Well you do get all the plugins and the 2gb of ram it's worth if you don't have a legacy X or the key 61..

Well shit. I called Guitar Center and they gave me a $250 discount so I went for it. I think I might actually keep my Live 2 Retro and use it as a portable device which I've never done. It's always been in the studio.

Y'all can thank me for helping to fund future firmware updates by making this purchase.

Remember when the MPC 2000 XL was released and Primo was still making fire on the 60. I think sticking with what you have if what you have does what you want it to do is a virtue too often ignored these days.
I absolutely don’t get the hype as this 2500 colossus does exactly what a 350 quid One off of the classifieds can also do. Really the only thing that could get me excited these days would be a box by Ableton as that would save me from having to export stems and just importing standalone projects for proper mixing while still being able to work untethered from the computer. I hope that their Note app is a field test for a standalone box (although they would have to expand sampling capabilities quite a bit at least to what Simpler can do in conjunction with Drum Rack).

Cee Mcree did the same by posting his YouTube video on Facebook. Acting like the software was all new and flashy.. I told him the following:

Sorry man, but normally I enjoy watching your videos but this was way too cheesy.. You are showing us functionality that you technically could’ve showed us back in 2017.. I’m starting to loose respect here and feel like you’ve got sugared by Akai and was forced to post this on launch day.. I’m not mad at ya.. Just keeping it raw and real with ya..

Pardon my french but: f*ck a youtuber. if thats their schtick whatever but they gets no repsect from ultros. Means piss to me. tutor got the tutorials locked and why would i listen to the advice of people who dont know anything about embedded hardware? its a new era and all that old school consumer logic is out the window... they still hump the carcus though.

I actually think the se is a step in the right direction. More emmc is a logical step. i want to know more about the hardware in it, i need to poke the rom some to get a sense.

its not priced for a guy like me. im a tightwad, but it's indicitive of inmusic realising there was a bit of short coming with limited internal. sure would be nice to put all expansions and synths on the internal. (its is much quicker than sd or usb)
