Are you saying that on your MPC's sample editor, pad 3 i.e. "Play To End (One Shot)" actually loops and doesn't stop at the end? Video proof, or didn't happen.

After you engage the Loop Direction symbol, Pad 16 will continuously Loop the Loop Start/End Points for easy editing.

Pad 03 was directed at the Other Post about playing just the End of the 4 Bar Loop

The whole and entire point of this thread is PLAYING ONLY THE LOOP TRANSITION FROM END TO START WITHOUT HAVING TO PLAY THROUGH THE ENTIRE LOOP. Which is not possible with any of the currently provided pads.

How is it even possible to read this thread without getting that.

No The Entire point of the Thread was finding the Best Technique for the Perfect Loop. Somehow it morphed into You NOT knowing how to use the MPC Properly

So what's your strategy for pre-listening the transition point of a four-bar loop? You listen through the whole four bars for every single nudge of loop points? The OP wanted to know if there's any less dumb way.

Hell Yea...I'm Old School. No Deep Science to it. I turn on the Zero Snap get the End Point in the Area of a Good Loop...Load that Sample in the Program and Let the Sequencer Trigger the Loop. If its a little off, I'll Either Play wit the Tempo or Tweak the End Point in Sample Edit, By Zooming in on the Waveform.

Music should be a Sonic Feeling, Not The Perfect Amount of Clicks on the Waveform. If it sounds Off Tempo, that usually means you're Wayyyy Off with the End Point. Practice Makes Perfect. In Time He'll be setting Loop Start/End Points with his Eyes Closed...

You cannot rely upon a machine to make a perfect loop, especially if it's lifted from pre-recorded music/sample etc. Some loops simply do not work. I would suggest chopping at that point or moving on to a different loop. Over the years I've learned to painfully tweak start/end points, tune up/down as well as tweaking the BPM. If you're a hip hop producer and ever wonder why DJ Premier beats are sometimes labeled 92.9 BPM or 83.6 BPM etc., it's probably due to him having to tweak a sample so it loops correctly. So all in all, I agree with the person who said you need to use your ears mostly.

You may want to read the original post. The OP wants to use his ears, but so that it takes less time to do so. The Roland SP-404 mk II has a function that works like the MPC's Pad 16, except it starts playing from about one second before the end, and that's why the OP got the idea to ask if something like that is possible on the MPC.

But OK. Listening to the four bars a lot is proper use of the MPC, and you get a sonic feeling. Don't think you're wasting time, you're getting a sonic feeling. Peace, bro!

The same thing happens all the time.

New User asks: "This takes a long time. Is there a faster way? Yes or no?"
Old User posts: "You're not using it properly. It has to take a long time. That's the proper way, because I have used an MPC 2500."

My experience might not be practicle or on context with the other comments here, but I would like to add that finding the perfect loop points sometimes can be tricky!

My issue sometimes is trying to chop a sample that can loop but has notes playing at the end that build up towards the next beat that ruin my loop.

I'm trying to chop a 2 bar section in 8th notes making 16 pads. Once I find the end point I will just play pads 7 and 8 instead of 15 and 16 to remove that buildup but the last 2 8th notes of my 2 bar section make it difficult to find the end point. It masks the transient and listening to it loop doesn't help because those notes at end are to abrupt.

Also tapping my finger to the beat, trying to watch as the cursor moves, it's hard to visualize where on the wave the firstbeat of next section would be, because zoomed in the cursor moves so fast.
