MPC Key 61 + MPC Ren?? Possible?

Is it possible to connect my MPC REN running on its last software update and control the MPC Key 61?

That way i still can use my Ren and have the power of the MPC Key

MPC Software only supports one full MPC controller. You could connect one of the MPCs via MIDI DIN cable for some functionality (but no different to attaching any generic MIDI controller)

Prolly wok better with the MPC Key as the Master and Ren as controller

Dont be mistaken, theres no interoperability between the new devices either. The best you will get is your 2nd device used as a generic controller. (either through midi program or "controller mode") one mpc cannot control the others over all "global" parameters. theres no real magic in that sense. You may end up with play stop record overdub but wouldnt count on it. Buying another modern MPC will yeild no results. Its just throwing money in the toilet. dont do that.

well i plan on keeping my MPC Ren and older macbook pro working together since it still works that way, was hoping to add in the MPC Key 61 or LIVE 2 for the updated software and hardware touchscreens etc.

i mean its no big deal if they dont work

but it would make since to the REN to at least work as a functioning controller for the MPC Key 61 but then again not everything Akai does makes sense

Ren for drum programing and Key for sounds and workflow.

Yeah you can definitely use the ren for drumming if the midi notes the same or you map the kits. could map all the knobs and shit to various things per-project too in midi learn it'd probably be a great controller for all all sorts of things either way.
