FW 2.11.9 released

On the Force, you can move samples from "memory" to "streaming" by going to the PROJECT view, long-pressing a sample and selecting "Stream From Disk". From what I can see, for audio tracks you get it automatically (if you've turned on the option in preferences), but for drum and keygroup samples it needs to be done to each sample one by one.

If it doesn't have any meaning to you, you can ignore it. No, actually it was for EnochLight, but your post seemed to about the same thing, so I thought it's continuing the line of thought. I wanted to show details about how the Force's disk streaming works, because I think most MPC users don't know about selecting memory/streaming one-by-one for every sample.

I know I can ignore it but this is a public forum/thread so use the quote function or provide context to your post like you did in the post that I'm quoting, then I wouldn't have had to asks, who are you replying to. You do know people can't read your mind or know your intentions?

Ignoring something I don't understand is not my nature. A wise thing to do when you don't know is to ask questions. Thanks for the clarification. Before you catch an attitude see the role you played in what & or how you say something could be misunderstood by non-mind readers.

But to your point about selecting each sample 1by1, doesn't that suck. like wouldn't it be better to be able to pick the destination in the sample menu first or after you sample something?
Or even set a file size min so if a sample is that size or over it automatically gets streamed from disk?
Or have a way to batch select samples, then pick stream to disk or RAM.
Do you have any suggestions on how it could implemented better?

Make sure the temp folder isn' set to the internal hard drive. I forgot the Preference tab it's in. Set it to the drive that will be use for streaming.

I'm thinking, why didn't they enable it like "stream everything from disk [x]" and all RAM issues solved forever... Maybe they tested it and decided that reading files from disk with the actual hardware just isn't fast enough for everything that people do on their Forces? I don't know! If I worked for Akai, I would know, but then I wouldn't be writing these speculations here.

Even if you install a modern SSD in your Force, it's connected via a relatively narrow USB bus (or so I've read on these forums), and so it won't work like it does in your PC. If there was a setting to get everything streamed from disk, then we could test how it works, and what the limits are.

Akai said not to stream short samples like drum hits, so that's probably why we don't have the option to stream everything. Which may only be a problem for power uses loading 100s of samples. I've never tested the limits of how many samples can be streamed at once.
Have you done any stress test?
It's sounds like fun if I had the time.

Still, there has to be a better way.

I'll put my money on streaming coming when it's ready.

But the MPC is pretty slow at loading from SD and SSD, so maybe it's just not appropriate for real-time streaming for instrument patches.

Or maybe this is all just a minor config issue and they just need their Linux distro to load the right driver or something.

Update was worth it! Zooming in sample edit mode via touchscreen is smoother and Air Flavour Pro now loads up immediately

Disk streaming did not solve the (2 GB) RAM issues on Force when it came out, so I'd wager it won't have any effect on MPC if it ever comes to that platform either. Literally the only thing disk streaming will allow MPC to do is the exact same thing it does on Force: allow you to record audio tracks as long as your attached storage will allow. That said, it is a pretty sweet feature on Force.

The only thing that will help the plugins is more RAM (which is why we got 4 GB in the MPC Key 61 and now the X SE) and a faster CPU (something I'd wager we won't see anytime soon).
