I've said it before and will say it again... regardless if Akai keeps updating the MPC or not... I could keep using it in my setup, as is, or even go back to around 2.7/2.8 timeframe... and still make music for a very long time.

The fact that Akai is *still* releasing updates alone is incredible, add in the new synths and effects that were free, icing on the cake... creating a new ecosystem of paid plugins, that are extending the reason for Akai to keep updating the MPC (and Force!), for *everyone*, should be seen as a major blessing.

I'm not saying there is nothing to dream about, nothing to complain about, nothing to wish for, or whatever... but having been a long time MPC head... this is what an MPC renaissance looks like, and at least I personally never thought we'd see it happen. The market had shifted to software with custom controllers and other hardware. I would never have guessed Akai would have *ever* made another standalone unit.

Anyways... shoot for the stars!

I totally agree. It's been like that in here for a long time now. I think it's bots.

I'm not sure if they are real users. :hmmm:

Paid promoters or affiliates with benefits :?

You're all good certified. Was really just kinda generalizing the scene psychology.

We shouldn't be ok with them breaking our beat machines. It's an inconvenience to music making time. Imagine a tech repeatedly tuning your guitar the wrong way? like "I think I got it this time chief!".

No I totally agree with you, im just and old man happy for what we have and yes there alot of bugs I just deal with.. one major flaw was the so called class complaint audio interfaces which would have been a home run.. but they should have had a list they don't support.. or vendor won't support that would have made it a little easier to deal with.. buying and returning interfaces just to test from Sweetwater was a pain. And to think we have to pay extra for a interface if they had someone to develop
A driver for windows or mac.. that would have been epic.. there is alot to complain about but we should point out the positives and possibilities akai have given us..

Exactly. Ppl want stability. Nobody wants to install buggy updates after updates.

well, i don't want to sound like that guy who never pick a side, but i'm a bit ambivalent about this. i mean, i'm more than happy they developed an ecosystem with such a long life, this is not usual, if they need to revamp some establshed models just to make a quick buck here and there, i have no probs with it, i'm happy with my live mk1. it can do a lot, and it does it well in almost all circumstances. but i want bug fixes too, as well as a few very simple features that old machines had, easy time signature on main screen, step recording, better sustain loops and free running lfo. don't care too much about the rest. i spent a few bucks on opx4, air flavor pro and air delay pro, not interested in all plugins they put out, but i'm willing to give em some extra $$$ for stuff that i might enjoy.
one thing i wonder: are they planning the possibility for a SOC swap to upgrade existing hardware in the future? because as good as these machines are today, i don't see them still developing for the same hardware in 5 years...maybe i'm wrong.... but if they're going that route i'd be more than happy.

Online update only?? And now there is 'inMusic Software Manager' to install to get content. Not sure what to make of this, I suppose lots of companies do use 'management' software for content & updates.

I guess I kind of resent that Akai gets lumped into the rest of the inMusic brands. But thats just me... I'm an idiot

This happens on pretty much any forum (when there are problems with the software).

Truth is, while there are problems, you're always using the program/hardware because you prefer it over the others.

So sure, MPC doesn't have tagging but I've chosen to use it instead of Maschine.

If I was using Kontakt, I'd have tags but I wouldn't have whatever it is the MPC has that made me choose it over Maschine.

So on one hand, the issues people raise are legit. On the other hand, they're all more than good enough to make hit songs and ... let's be real ... ... ... if there's still things to complain about after 25+ years of DAWs existing, you can't expect any of them to change any time too.

And some of you mf's got some serious beer goggles on when assessing the situation around you. You're welcome to hate all you want on what Akai has or has not done, and what you want done, but that doesn't mean other people can't see the forest for the trees.

I think it's possible to criticize and give suggestions about the MPC's and still see all the good in them.

Avasopht mentioned the tags. I suppose he's referencing my rant on the other topic.

There's a lot of stuff I'd change. Mostly QoL. I don't care about plugins, but I bought some of them. I don't need expansions and I rant about them but I bought a lot. There are things I think are blatantly stupid and make me mad because they're so obvious. Still I spend my money and my time with it. I bought a 2500 last week. Yesterday I picked up a soldering iron for the first time to replace the switches. I'm invested in the history, the platform, the brand.

I wish Akai had an different aura regarding their engagement with the community. But it is what it is.

Do I love my MPC? Absolutely. Even with the faults I think it has. If I could only keep one piece of gear for life it would be it. If my Live died it would take me 2 minutes to buy another one. I don't even leave the house without mine. Like ever. Swear to god.

I mean, we're all here. That says something. I rant but in a few hours I'm gonna get home, take my MPC out of my backpack and turn it on. And I wouldn't change that for anything that's out there.

I think it's possible to have different views about something and not make it a conflict.

EDIT: And big hug to NearTao for his work with the SP404 Guide and Channel. I also don't leave my house without the SP and your guide!
