Mpc x SE yes o no?

I don’t know really. As it stands now you’ll be cheaper if you track down a „Classic“ X and buy all plugins available. Because as of now I don’t see any improvement in the SE. But depending on how Akai proceeds you might need the extra 2GB at some point. At least I would wait like 2-3 month to have the SE price go down a bit. In Germany for example it’s sold for 2.4K already (Including taxes) which is 400euros cheaper than suggested retail price. But I think the price will get be even lower with time.

The 16 Q-Links is key. I don't use the 4 Q-Links on my MPC-One at all because there's no way I know what they do at any given moment.

if you're interested, I own an MPC One and have a method that will help you know which of the One's 4 Q-Links are assigned to what control at many given moments. Even if you're like me and have Q-Link monitoring turned off because of a bug

There is a little red line that comes up on almost any area you touch, whether it be in an effect or in drum synth or editing keygroup, try touching a knob and look closely you see a little red line that will make a border around small group of knobs or sliders, this is when you know they are assigned to the 4 Q-Links and many times like editing eq effect for instance, it's all in a straight line of knobs. If you touch in another area of something and the red border appears, the knobs are automatically reassigned to that group.

I don't think we will see a significant drop in price anytime soon. Why would we ?

A> They are selling just fine.

B> There is NO competition to be fair. Unless NI steps up their game with a Maschine+ MK2/Studio/Pro (or whatever).
All these Boutique devices like the Rossum SP1200 and the Isla2400 are NOT selling in the entire EU and are not even remotely a threat.
The Isla 2400 even goes up in price every year so there is not really competition pricewise and the Rossum can't be afforded by most.
Like i said, they are devices for a specific audience that's all hung up on the SP1200 workflow and sound.
When it comes to being a production center and having a fast workflow on a modern day platform (with Plugins, visual feedback, controller mode options for the heavy lifting, storage options, etc.) they don't even come close.


So Akai is sitting pretty and i'm sure they will keep the current pricing for the remainder of this year.

Yea that Qlink switch is not the smoothest way to go. Qlink and Shift+Qlink get you forward and backward but… meh. But with time it's possible to get used to it. Tapping the screen and tweaking Qlinks is great for plugins but doesn't work for chopping. That's why the X is so powerful, having everything hooked up to those 16 Qlinks with screens makes that machine special. But I'm sure 4 Qlinks with good UI improvements could feel just as powerful as 16, maybe with a dedicated screen area to switch Qlink "bank" directly and know where things are at all time idk. They just haven't got it right yet imo.
