What would be the best way to get my drums from vinyl? Should I sample and cut it up and then filter and compress them?

What was up with the compressor BS? I'm still learning but do you use a compressor?

A compressor is not even necesary. All you have to do is record the drum hits or breaks as loud as you can with out them distorting.Compression is a tool you can use once you've been at it a while but really if you want your drums to bang than sample drums that bang to begin with.
