agree its a cash grab as these features could of been added from the jump; but disagree when u say these updates make the current stuff obsolete, that is wrong cos the curent stuff can still run the latest software so how is it obsolete? outdated yes but not obsolete.

...& After 5 minutes of intense brainstorming by professionals, may I remind you, they ended up making damn firetruck from a kids cartoon. I know Akai means red in Japanese but, come on!

Aka = red (noun), color of red itself.
Akai = red (adjective), something is red.

They are placing the 4gb boards in products. Started with the Keys61.
Of course they would put them in SE X ( :twisted: ), One+, and soon Live ?whatever? to follow also.
Seeing how this is playing out, the wishing and hoping for anything greater is :lol: :smh: :lol:

I may be out on my own here, but I kind of like this.

They're showing some love to both the top and bottom of their market.

They're keeping the lineage going, which given that the standalone chain started more than five years back, isn't a bad thing in the music tech world.

It also suggests good things about code followups, probably including bugfixes.

It tells me that nukai is serious, investing in the line, and here to stay. All they need is the Akai MPC Big Smoke Order Edition.

My guess is it does. It's the new line of MPC. This will allow them to continue to sell without coming out with an actual "new" product.

I wonder if they sheilded this one any better than the original MPC One... it's one of my gripes, most people wouldn't notice but I use over-the-air tv in my lab and it mucks up my tv pretty fierce... if rf is getting out its also getting in I would imagine.

You're not. Im not happy that they are just refreshing the line instead of coming out with a new concept that pushes the MPC into the future but for me, a One with a battery is perfect. I am definitively not the targeted demographic of modern mpcs but the One form factor with a battery is something I've been asking for for a minute

lol yeah this really does seal the deal on getting a new MPC any time soon. Gotta hope for the mythical 3.0 if you want something significantly different I guess

Ah thanks for that info. Seems not worthwhile to upgrade for current users, unless it can run more fx & synths.

i highly doubt it: consider that og mpc One came with a very restricted sound library compared to X and Live, iirc it didn't have any keygroup instruments on board, just a small selection of drum programs.
perhaps they'll add some of the plugins, but having all fabric series plugin on the entry level unit? i don't think so...

I’m thinking nothing bigger until they offload all the 4gb boards.

Hmm ...

Well, it's a lot more portable than the live and much more easily fits into my rucksack without feeling like I'm carrying half a corpse on my back.

I'd consider this for a travelling device.

Oh shit. I didn’t know that. Seems weird they would limit it like that when it’s fine just being a different form factor.
