I just bought a good as new second hand MPC X , i'm overall impressed by this device.
But the one thing i noticed is that the screen is not as Vivid and colors as the Live 2 or the MPC One.

Is this a known thing with the screens of the X ?

It’s a different screen, not the same parts, yes, it’s normal for X.

I noticed it too. I had already red about the diff screens so it was expected.
In comparison my MPC Keys61 screen is same size and parts as Live. It’s super bright and sharp when set to DAY, they ALL need to be like that.

16 oleds/q-links and q-link mode buttons QUICKLY made me waive away that lil diff in screens tho.

Yess , i've got the Live 2 next to it now , im tranfering the data from the live 2 ssd to the ssd in the X
And it's big difference , but like you say .. these qlinks and all the dedicated knobs is the exact the reason i wanted the X

When I was hardcore mpc 4k, I borrowed a friends Live for 1 week. Looked up X online. IMMEDIATELY began the hunt to purchase an X, lol. Same reasons as you stated.

It's not the screen's fault. its the rom. It initializes the screen brightness for the X at a different intensity than other models. I run my mpc one in x-mode constantly because the screen brightness is way dimmer. I cant handle that eye seering hell of the one. I wish there was a better granular control for it. If one was to spoof their mpc-x into say mpc-one mode it would brighten up the screen like the others.

Its a different panel altogether, could even be a different manufacturer. Probably has different requirements as far as voltage and whatnot goes depending on the internals.. I see it all day long here at work. We've got the same product that uses multiple displays depending on what's available at the time, and there's different firmware for each variant because of the panels inside.. Flash the wrong model's firmware, you end up with a duplicated display on screen to start, and no telling what the timing and voltage settings in the firmware and whatnot will do later down the line (not that you can use it with the drunk double vision happening anyways).

First thing that came to mind - I used the X in nighttime mode for years with the assumption that it would prevent burn in.. Only recently went back to daylight mode.

But since this one was second hand, previous user could have set it to nighttime, and get a less vivid screen as a result..

So, something to check maybe

Nah , like i've said these are 2 different screens , the X is allot older than the Live2 or the One.
I've got the Live2 here also and the flat colors over the vivid colors has got nothing to do with the day or night setting.

I doesn't botter me , now i know , its all good

Two Different Backlights on Two Different LCD Screens. Live/One Screen is smaller, so the it appears Brighter
