How to loop automation where track length < sequence length

I have a sequence length of 4 bars and I have created a new track with a 1 bar drum pattern. The remaning 3 bars are empty.
In the track section, I set the length to 4 beats so that it repeats the 1 bar pattern on playback.

Now, when I draw automation events for that 1 bar pattern, it does not repeat the automation, rather the sequence length (4 bars) is played in full.

aside from laboriously copying and pasting the automation across the 4 bars (edit: actually, doesn't seem to copy automation alone when you copy events in the sequence edit menu so I'd like to know how to do that as well, if possible), is there a way to repeat the 1 bar of automation?

i'm confused to what you are trying to do in the way you are trying to do it vs just duplicating the one bar. It sounds to me like you just need to duplicate your 1 bar pattern and then record your automation if you are going for different automation per 4 beats.

If you already have your sequence and you need to edit one track, use track copy and copy your bars from that track to where you need them and then do your automation. Just

FYI track length has limited usefulness without workarounds. If you are tracking out to a daw it is fine. But when using songmode, track length is not respected. You can midi loop your MPC so you can set a track length then record the midi to another track. SO if you wanted a 3 beats loop or even play around with your length in real time while recording, you need to connect the physical midi out to the physical midi in and be wary of feedback loops.

Sequence length =1 bar.
Make whatever, beat, automation.
Seq pencil icon, double length (this makes seq = 2 bars). Again to double 2 to 4.

*your automation gets doubled right along with the seq.
I just tried it on X. The MPC, not the drug.

For a lot of people, if it's not in the manual, it's not in the product. If you're interested in toying around with the Ленинград mod or others, go ahead. But I don't think it's for everybody.

Thanks for testing, but I want to keep the sequence length the same but have the track length shorter.

You can achieve this by setting the Length of the track in Project page to a specific number of beats.

It will loop the number of midi events in that beat range but does not loop the corresponding automation events. I could go ahead and copy and duplicate the bars in the track but it seems strange that the automation does not loop as well.
