Ahh, I missed that post. In that case I hope they develope VST models of the DFAM, SubH and Mother. Beheringer has stated it's going to release their SubH (spice) next. So the VSts would less be in competition with their own range, but with Behringers from users seeking the budget and midi implementation.

If these were in the MPC they could use a matrix instead of a patch bay.

The fact that I'm just about to order the Edge from Thomann, means that this by the order of Sod, is probably going to happen.

I thought about the Edge, especially as it's going to have USB midi and a few other extras, but decided to go for the Mother 32 & DFAM combo, no regrets it's lots of fun and great to be working with stripped back features as it's definitely encouraging creativity. My wife is less impressed with the bleeps and noises coming out of my studio though.

I wanted to make some expansions around these, and a Moog DFAM expansion is always going to be more appealing to customers than a Behringer Edge expansion. But I had a listen to a comparison the other day, the Edge sounds really good, but different to the Moog, so at £150 I expect it's perfectly reasonable to buy an Edge as well.

I'm having to pay 200, as Thomann is the only seller in Europe to stock soon. it's due 2-5 days, and I leave for the UK in a week. Andertons will get their stock in August and then the price should settle to 159 quid

I could wait until the end of the year in Vietnam for stocks, but it would around 170 quid or maybe initially more.

I'm looking forward to more true analogue tones to sit alongside the MPC and the occasional sampling of hits

I'm not bothered by the Mother, and I'm not overly excited but a lot of what modular only guys put out. I think The SubH suits their style more than what I do. But a Plug in Version within the MPC with midi and the fx routing and zero footprint, and patch recall. That would appeal more than the Spice just adding midi

Back in the days the sound of the legacy Moog synths (applies to Korg, DSI, Roland as well) was simply awesome. For a couple of years, now that analog is loved by a lot of folks again, they come up with well featured synths, but none of these sound as good as legacy versions, especially when it comes to overdrive and saturation and all the other beloved non-linearities, Plugins / VSTi's are getting better - sure - but there's still something missing....

On topic: I don't expect anything from InMusic now that Moog is part of the company.

Hopefully, some plugins from Moog would be ported to MPC. Model 15 would be great.

And it turns out that the Moog plugins are <30$ on the Apple Store.

Or they can just legally put the Moog logo on Mini D, as it is.

I would have preferred that Behringer bought Moog, just for the fun in reddit... (there's already a lot of fun with this topic on r/synthesizercirclejerk)

I doubt anything will change Moogs output,they’ll still keep making hardware products,Don’t expect them to start creating plug ins to replace the hardware completely

it will just be like Dave Smith when he sold sequential to Focusrite,all that gave was distribution rights and financial control to them they didn’t mop up the hardware to rebrand as their own nor did it change the company heritage and outlook to produce hardware synths,it was just Dave’s way of securing the companies future,bear in mind he passed away shortly after which kind of looks like he wanted to make sure the company was going to be safe.

Being umbrella managed by inmusic will just secure Moogs future,I doubt inmusic will change anything,it’s not like their gonna fire all the Moog employees and steal all their copyrights to make software based synths,there is too big a brand name and heritage to stop doing what they’ve always done,create top notch hardware.
