Automatisation of Transpose in runing Sequence

So far I have not found an Answer to what I have been looking for...

Is it possible to automatise the Transposefunction during a runing sequence? I can transpose the runing sequence by hand, but have not found a possibility to automise it.

Transpose what and where. From the track view, or a pad parameter? Or a midi track?

Generally when I want pitch automation, I use the pitch shift plug in and record automation as needed. As long as you can assign it to a Q Link, you can record it as automation.

My intention was to transpose Midi tracks from the sequence mode, but you can't assign that level to the Q_links. So that does not work. Working on the level of track view is ok, but makes things complicated working with multiple MIDI tracks. In short, what I was looking for, does not work with MPC.

Just create multiples of the same sequence and transpose each pattern globally so each pattern is the key/Chord you require then switch between the patterns in real-time when you need to transpose,so for example pattern 1 transposed +2 pattern 2 +5 etc etc then just switch between them as they play

This is how I used do this on my old 4000 so your essentially creating chord changes by transposing multiples of the same patterns easily,i then create chords by triggering the individual transposed patterns at the required time for my song arrangement so pattern 1 I might need in Cminor and pattern 2 might be an Eb,an easy way to create chord changes without having to play/Record every time you need a new chord/Key/Scale or a new pattern,I’ll then chain them in pattern play mode to create a full arrangement/Song it’s also a good way to try out different chord progressions as well

the only issue doing it globally in the sequence section per pattern on the newer MPCs is that it transposes any drum kits by the same amount so shifting drum sounds by that amount too

so if you transpose a copied pattern,your kick-which played originally C2 with no transpose if the new pattern is globally transposed by 2 semitones the drum note will now move by the same amount and play D2 which may be a snare or other sound (dependant on your drum kit)in the newer transposed pattern

on my old mpc4k you could get round this by assigning the beats to be drum tracks and any melodic parts would be instrument tracks meaning if you globally transposed a pattern it only transposed those instrument assigned tracks,leaving the drum tracks intact

it seems the newer MPCs don’t allow this(AFAIK) globally the only workaround for it,would be to transpose the copied patterns individual melodic tracks in each pattern so your doing the same thing but it’s a little more time consuming.

Yes, this is what I have been doing. But it would have been nice doing it "on the fly" and not with set sequences. To automise the transposefunktion for tracks works well, when you only have one track you want to transpose. If you want to transpose two or three tracks, it gets complicated.

Unfortunatly I haven`t found a way to link the transposefunction from the sequence section to the Q-Link knobs.

the 'trouble' with that method is it changes the pitch continuously, where in the transpose on MAIN, it will change in semitones

I never understood why Akai haven’t ever implemented a real time global transpose from either a connected master Midi keyboard on the legacy MPCs or in the case of the MPC Key it’s own internal keyboard it’s only a simple note trigger requirement to transpose the sequence according to what key you press could easily be implemented.

I’ve been able to do it with my MPC4k when my sequence is running simply highlighting the transpose cursor and inputting the transpose value in real-time via the Numeric keys and enter,this is great for sketching out a chord sequence in real-time,would be nice to be able to record these changes directly into the sequence in real-time rather than having to keep stopping the sequence and transposing sections/Measures at a time.

For me this would be great for trying out chord progressions in real-time,would also act like an arranger type sequencer as well,This is a feature I used a lot on my old Yamaha QY700,sequencer which was great fun.
