Has anyone else dealt with this issue? It seems to be rarely talked about, and when it is usually the poster has already done things like disable autosave and reformatted/repaired their installed ssd/sd card etc. CPU/Memory levels are far far below max. I am a touring musician full time and need this machine to do my work and this is driving me crazy. Akai support was unfortunately pretty unhelpful

I've seen this issue pop up several times, and I notice my machine does it every so often. It seems the only options are:

1) Use something else entirely/buy a new unit (I'm convinced Akai knew about faulty units/never addressed)
2) Rebuild your internal SD card using an official file from Akai (this is beyond a drag/drop process)
3) Keep RAM usage below 60% of what's available (anything more and you run the risk of crashes/other weird behavior)
4) Reset preferences

What firmware are you on? Does the freezing happen when in controller mode? Does sound stop when freezing? Have you opened it up? Touring can cause things to loosen up/disconnect. I've seen it happen.

Basically....we should leave the Internal Drive ALONE lol.

Thats why Akai gave us USB/SD/SSD Support(Live2/X)

They just failed to mention..."Dont Mess With Our Internal Sh*T!"

They should put the factory restore file on their site to make easier to get & it may would help with some issues, especially for used units that may have been messed with by the previous owner. Is there a good reason why they don't?

I'm on the newest firmware, 2.12, it started happening on 2.10 and I downgraded and it was still happening. I have not opened it up. I tour internationally so it goes all over the world with me, I wouldnt be surprised if something came loose. thank god I also have an SP 404 as a backup, I can still write and record on the MPC with the freezing and make due I just cant play live with it. the issue is the exact same as this video linked below

its rather confusing to me why they don't let you truly reset the entire system to factory default

at the op: check all your midi sync options in settings. look for clock in / out stuff. you can set the tick resolution as well. perhaps if you have a controller its recursing midi messages. If that's not it, try switching the soundcard from internal to something else and back so alsa can re-initalize the connection to the alsa server (linux audio server).

the mpc software is coded to auto-detect compatible rates and sometimes it doesnt default to the proper block size, noticed this while playing with a virtual audio interface / some of my soundcards. if the block size or period size is off it will xrun sometimes piddly sometimes real horror show depends on the offset.

None of this did the trick, starting to think it might be a legit hardware issue, but my unit is out of warranty

It sucks… but i’d say move on to laptop or if you still need mpc there is just one option, buy new or used one.
Even if I playback with laptop, If show is big, I’d(actually those big concerts we have another tech guy do all playback and they always bring back up laptop for crash/etc..)

If you’re plying with lots of crowd I’d prepare one more backup unit.

But hope you sort it out at the end anyway!

Let us know if you ever fix issues!

But if they was to have it for free on their site why would people need to pirate it & how would they make money if people know it free on the site?

If you invested Money in designing Drum Kits/Samples, etc, would you be ok with Joe Blow and other companies downloading your sh*t and Selling them on the Internet? Makin Loot off of your hard work?

It was online to help current users who purchased their MPCs
