Nutrisse: I chose the Volcas for contrast, because there the whole approach different. They're quite simple and limited boxes, and nobody expects anything different. You take a set of Volcas and make music. Whatever comes out, is the music. Pick a device and do something with it. The music adjusts to the instrument, and not the other way around. This is an approach to making music, and actually, MPC users do that as well. For example, they accept the sample slicing and "warping" facilities, which are clearly lacking compared to, say, Ableton Live. If you do it MPC style, the end result will sound more choppy etc, and that has become a part of the music. In the same vein, you could make a decision to use the Bassline and adjust everything else accordingly. Tune your music samples to A=440Hz, if that's a problem? You can do that if you want, the sampler does have a pitch control. But for some reason that's not an acceptable idea.

LivePsy: do you have an example tune you could link to? Basic Channel or something?

I know why you chose the Volcas as an example, no explanation needed. There are times when limitations define the genre and process. I was commenting on the merit of what Bassline is trying to achieve - an emulation of a bassist and/or 303 (if marketing is to be believed) . My point is that a band shouldn't have to re-tune their entire lineup because the bassist refuses to do so, and I'm applying the same logic here.

There comes a point where one has to admit that no amount of finesse will shape that same bassist into Nile Rodgers, and I think that's where people are at with Bassline. The juice aint worth the squeeze.

Anyway, back to Jura!

I've been in a studio where they fixed a badly tuned bass track with Autotune. (yeah, how about AIR Vocal Tuner ... maybe it will create a new genre and style phenomenon)

The Juno can nail that sound pretty well, but Basic Channel's classic techno chord stabs are a P5.. I cant do it quite right with the Prophet Rev2, there is something about the DCO's and filter that dont get it right, but you can do it in a heartbeat with a Behringer Deepmind or any of the Juno plugins..

i had quite some junos in my career, virtual or hardware and jura definitely has that juno dna. I don‘t care how close or not it is, it sounds great and is very usable, that‘s all that matters to me. My favorite synth so far.

But while we are talking dub techno chords: it was unexpected but i use mini d almost exclusive polyphonic for (chord) stabs etc :) the mini d delay is also very nice,

Of course, FM is also great for this type of sounds. Some really cool synths on this platform now.

I just lost an hour going through tracks :-D These two have that sounbd but are ambient.

Illuminati Audio Rod Modell/Kevin Hanton
Interpolation Tapes 1 Radius

Can I attach a project here? You'd need Jura but I am happy with the sound. Just a single bar template with 2 Jura tracks. You can all dump on me

THE classic 'dub techno' chords:

Since I made some positive comments about Jura and dub techno chords, here's a link to a demonstration project. 3Mb single sequence, kick drums removed because they are paid sample libraries.

People seem to be making what they themselves call dub chords with a wide variety of devices, synthesis types, waveforms and techniques. One guy is even using a vocoder? Tubesynth is definitely capable enough for providing material for something that can legitimately be called dub techno chords.

LivePsy: I cannot do anything with your MPC project, but can you upload an audio rendering somewhere?

The Drums through a vocoder technique has been kicking around for years, making dub chords with them seems an often 'trick' in 'what you can't do with a 'vocoder'. tutorials. I'm not knocking it, quite the opposite. There is so much flexabilty in coming op with rhythmical harmonic material and happy accidents. Jumping through XLN XO for different sounding rhythms, feeding the modulator, and feed Vital in scanning through stacked wavetables as a carrier, whilst tweaking Vocodex all on top of a straight fourfour beat consumed one of my mornings last week.

Had never heard of Basic Channel until this thread, but surely the idea is not to sound like him, but create sounds inspird by him
