Paella originates in Valenciana, and even there it's has a range of ingredients, to choose from, not just one choice, so the are variations with a range of ingredients. It's not just one thing. But there also other regional variations. I have a group of friends from Castellon de Plana, witch is just north of or Valenciana in Castellon. They always make it with rabbit. But rabbit is not an essential ingredients to call it Pealla, but it's sill is pealla. The main thing that makes it pealla is the flat pan you cook it in.

Actually, my memory of paella involves a food poisoning from some badly heated "paella" whatever that is, in Barcelona. Not recommended.

Travel tip: never eat at a place that has to send the waitress outside to lure diners into the establishment.

But yeah Jura makes a great dub chord, and grinds your beans for you. Still overpriced though imo

I was born and raised there... Never EVER eat at a terrace at the Rambla. Locals make jokes about the overpriced shit they serve

was just joking! I lived in Barcelona 13 years. Never ate a paella in a turist joint tbh.

In the end, I had success installing Jura with a tp-link USB 3.0 to RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet Network Adapter, and about 100 feet of ethernet cable!!! --- only to come back a few weeks later to use it, and it wants re-authorization I'm going to have to routinely roll out the 100 feet of cable & re-authorize?!? Insanity.

in the MPC software Jura plugin (according to the manual) there is a setting that reverts the entire UI to Vintage mode but I don't seem to find a similar setting on the standalone. there is one switch on the DCO for Modern/Vintage but it doesn't appear to affect the entire UI. is this correct? was hoping to just get the plain Vintage LFO settings (rate and delay) on standalone but now unsure if this is possible

So I did a little side by side of Jura vs The Juno-106 vst in roland cloud last night. It's Pretty easy to compare the two as they both have the original 1984 factory patches in common. A B tests could be done by anyone since you get a 30day free trial for RC.

My conclusion: They really do not sound alike. As a supposed replica, I'd say the Jura is not super close at all.

As a standalone synth however I think Jura sounds fantastic and intend to buy it very soon. It just seems like a slightly odd choice to market it as a replica / clone when in fact I'd say it's actually closer to simply "inspired by" the 1984 classic. ‍♂️ But then I suppose you could argue that wouldn't sell as well..

According to the sales blurb, Jura is meant to be a take on a synth released in 1982 which would mean the Juno 60, not the 106 which was released in 1984 and sounds different from the Juno 60 itself.

Either way, it's Juno-ish enough to provide that type of Roland sound on a Akai device which is nice to have.
