How to extend drum patterns that don’t start on a downbeat?

It’s probably really obvious but I’m struggling to find a way to do this.

Basically I want to extend certain portions of a drum pattern, but retain the off grid groove. The problem is that sometimes the first copied note isn’t on grid. I guess I could use the copy events in the sequence menu but to get to that, I have to leave the pattern editor, losing any visual reference to what I’m editing.

Any tips appreciated!

Add an on-grid dummy note and delete it after duplicating.

Perfect! Simple solution for my currently simple brain, thank you! Now I think about it I think ive actually done this before but completely forgot about it
