Just updating on my mpc live 2 retro with the same issue. I purchased mine as a "factory reseal" and I think it was returned for this exact reason. I purchased through zzounds and they have been great giving me time trying to figure it out. They are going to send me a brand new unit for the same price as the reseal so I still save a $100-200. I sent videos and everything to Akai and zzounds support and they both agreed this isn't how it should be acting. I even sent videos of me doing the same actions on my MPC One without error. I tried like 3 different firmwares as well.
I feel bad for you tho because the X SE is out of stock literally everywhere, or else I might have ordered one myself. Hopefully they send it in for repair or they have extras coming right around the corner.
If my next unit does it as well, i don't know what the hell I'm doing. Buying a used X confirmed to work?
