MPC X & MIDIMIX

I have 3 MidiMix(s) hooked up to my MPC X in an attempt to create a 24 track mixer. The MPC can see all of them but it basically routes all of the cc and channels to the same place on each. So fader 1 on each of the 3 mixer control the same track. Ive created 3 seperate drum program templates and assigned the tracks appropriately but i can seem to assigne more than 8 individual faders. im stuck and need help. thank in advance, stay safe

You could set them to different MIDI channels if possible. But since I don‘t use additional controllers on the MPC, I won‘t be of much help here.

Sorry, can’t help but am curious.. does your Midimix light up when connected to the MPC in standalone? Mine doesn’t.

Mines doesnt either. From what ive read, i doubt that feature will work when connected to MPC's. I think Akai missed the boat with alot of functions on this 1.

I think you need to use the midimix's editor program to change the CC's on the 2nd and 3rd units.

Edit: after looking at the midimix front panel.. you may be able to set one unit to "bank left" and the other one to "bank right" and one to default. I would try this first.

Also a powered hub should bring functionality to the lights.

if there is a midi mix editor for pc that will allow you to edit the cc's and controller channel use it to change the channels of each controller. Right now you have each controller on the same channel so all your midi messages are being mirrored to all four devices. You can keep the cc's the same if you simply change the channel (again if a tool for this exists, it does for the mpk mini but not for the apc mini)

If the lights work like on the APC mini, then there's no internal logic to turn a light on/off autonomously, the host computer has to send light control commands to the device.

use this... set the channels... currently they're all on channel 1.

housewithoutmouse. shut up and sit down. theres software by the boatload for debugging midi. the lights are sent by software (ableton) as different parameters are filled out. the values for lights are 0x01 - 0x05 the controller uses on off toggle so the buttons always insert 0 or 127. (0x00 or 0x7F) The controller by design cannot enable its own lights. Its done by the daw it was designed to be used with.

Ultros: I said the host must send the light control commands, the device doesn't command itself. And you thought there was something wrong with that. Go figure.
