There is a difference between making beats on a plane and letting the whole plane know you're making beats on a plane.
Same as the difference between doing a regular ol stretch when you go to the lavatory, or doing a full yoga class in the aisle of the plane.

fair enuff that sounds nice and chill; but the idea of making beats in public seems a bit yuck, but if ur in a secluded spot or a place where everyone is in they own lil bubble it cool enuff, but plane train or airport lounge seems cringe

Making beats is one of my favorite things to do, so if I have a 10hr flight or flight get’s delayed I am happy to kill time by working on some stuff. I also love doing crossword puzzles and reading, which I also do in these type of situations like a lot of non musicians like to do as well. And making beats to me isn’t any different than reading and doing crossword puzzles in that regard.

i get u but the mpc 500 is a bit smaller and more discrete; but something like an mpc live or maschine + in public would just be embarissing

making beats on a plane is actually smart. No distractions, there were studies done on how high altitude helps people focus.....So its not cringe to make beats while flying. Its cringe to use a huge piece of equipment that is obnoxious, rather than something form factor like an SP, a laptop, or phone

True, and to me it also depends on how you're doing it. On social media lot of people do It for the likes, so I get your cringe.

I get that, but imposing what it doesn't do for YOU onto everyone else has zero worth to the platform in general. The Live (hell, even MPC One with a portable battery!) can easily be taken anywhere, so having the option to do so - park, beach, pool, or otherwise - tracks with what some users prefer. And it tracks with the product's USP: portability. Don't get me wrong - I find Instagram peeps 100% cringe as well. But I'm also an old geezer who wants you to stay off my lawn.

Dude - don't you live in the Canadian wilderness or something? jk

jpeg wrote:maybe if ur in business class or on a private jet making beats on the plane might be cool; but if see a dude with an MPC live in economy/coach, that shit is cringey.

Oof.. that's pretty class prejudice, don't you think? Or is it your opinion that people who can't afford to fly first-class or private aren't worthy of practicing their art in economy/coach?? :hmmm:

I don't know - maybe I'm misunderstanding everyone's definition of "cringe", but how does any of that affect me?

If I see a fellow artist practicing their love of music "on the go" ANYWHERE - I say "GOOD ON YOU!" I mean, assuming they have a set of cans and aren't disturbing me while I nap. This lawn isn't going to watch itself.

17 million ppl in Ontario and most of them are in central / southern Ontario... the mornings are like someone kicked an ant-hill... Half if Canada's measly population lives here because it's industrial, the weather is kinder and it's got metropoli.

My backyard isn't public, but it's a great place to make a beat after a long day at work inside... .after 10+ hours in the office, it's nice to have an option to make a beat somewhere else... on my couch... in my backyard, if the beat gets good, by all means, finish up in the studio.

battery power is very cool also for live sets, especially in those messy situations were a multiple socket might be walked upon by mistake etc...
i personally love to work on the train, but the mpc live is a bit too big for that... the sp is the good size for me to make music on public transportation...
