Did they ever fix instant track mute?

I'm trying to arrange my album and it's a pain in the butt since I cant mute a sample track without the end of the sample continuing to play. I believe this is what instant track mute was supposed to accomplish, but last time I tried to use it, it was broken and glitched out my tracks. I never upgraded the os past 2.11. I'm wondering if they ever corrected this is issue? Seems like it should be a pretty basic feature being able to mute your a sample track and just have it mute completely like any other track...

in the track mute window on the far right there is a setting button I think in a shape of a gear next to cpu button
in there should be settings for instant mute
