MPC One: "Stuck" Pads

Hey MPC One users,

Around 5 or 6 months ago my MPC One started doing something that’s been really bugging me. Suddenly the pads have started to get what I call “sticky” on me. Out of nowhere they start to “stick together” within the machine. The top two rows of pads will appear to be activated, as evidenced by the lights in them glowing, when I haven’t touched the pads at all. When I try to play them, the machine barely recognizes that I am playing them.

Basically what I do when this happens is just be patient and play around the pads a lot and eventually it snaps out of it. Or I will re-start the machine, and that doesn't seem to do much. It seems to sort of go away on its own. I had been using this MPC One for about a year before this issue started to occur with basically no issues.

I’m running OS 2.1 1.2 on my MPC One. I want to try to troubleshoot here and work out the issue so that it doesn't happen. Very happy to hear any advice anyone has. I love this machine and want it to work well.

Is it the same pads or always different pads?

If it's the same you may want to try opening it up to see if there's something causing this.

It typically only affects pads 9-16 but it's random and does affect the other pads.

One thing I've been considering since my initial post: I always have the MPC plugged into this grounded adaptor https://www.swissgear.com/swissgear-grounded-adaptor-plug-cont-black as it was ordered from and delivered from the UK. Could this possibly have something to do with it? If it does, is it possible to find an American version?

It's possible the adapter is causing this but I don't know, but trying a different one can't hurt. You may just need to hit those pads with some contact cleaner.

Now you got me thinking of kinds of weird powers.

My mpc has been doing this for ages, possibly since day one. You can ‘refresh’ the pads by paging away and back again.

I think it happens when you’re changing tracks/programs while a note is sustained/playing.

MPC pads don‘t make any kind of contact at all
They simply transmit pressure, resulting in a change of electrical resistance in the respective pad sensor.

In fact it is... but there‘s no electrical contact between pad and sensor. The sensor sheet is isolated on both top bottom sides.
The (embedded) sensor changes it‘s resistance according to impact force (velocity) and if force is sustained the resistance is translated to poly pressure data.

Ok, but there still be something causing it to stick.
I think it's more of power issue.

90% of the time, something was spilled on the Pads, which seeped down to the sensors. The Pads sit on a Pad sensor sheet, which then sits on Square Rigid Brass Contacts

Not me. I'm from a place where people mind their business. But for scientific reasons I would like to know what's gonna on with the machine so we can prevent it in the future.

I think the pad thing is a bug in the program.. as mentioned when you switch banks and return the pads will re-init for that bank and operate properly again or should. I have seen this as well and it drives me nuts when it happens. Usually if i get all flippy with the menus.

Most peoples homes do not have a steady voltage output. Voltage sags during "peak hours" so in order to smooth out voltage transients ppl use a power conditioner so devices are supplied from a constant clean source.

Here is my power sequencer at around 9:20 pm. It's close to the 124v it goes up to during off-peak hours. it sags down to about 119v during peak hours as neighbours and people in the home draw energy away from my home / room.
