I LOVE my mfc42. I would love to chat with some people about it and learn it further. Really has some amazing possibilities with it and it sounds **** great. It made HELLA difference with my samples honest to god.

To explain what filtering is and what these machines do over the internet in text is difficult for me. Here: close your mouth tight and hum a lil 2 bar bassline over and over again. Then, gradually open your mouth while still humming the bassline. Get it? I explain it as like layers or gates opening up and letting some music out. I do agree that knowledge of filtering is crucial for producers of all types, though, and is part of beatmaking 101.

i may have missed something, but isn't an fmr rnc a compressor? ie. "Really Nice Compressor" made by FMR..... :?:

different ball game entirely - or are you choosing between a compressor and a filter... if so then it depends what your priorities are i guess.
