Herro!

I am using an MPCX and have creared a few sequences all using the same drum program for drums and all using the same keygroup program for bass. Everything is playing fine, just exactly how i built it up.

Im trying to lay down sum new bass notes for this one particular sequence, and heres the problem:

The notes used to be side by side on my pads but now i can only find 3 of them (across all 8 pad banks) and they are no longer anywhere near each other. Its like the entire thing just descided to go out of whack!

Im fairly new and have no idea what the shit is going on. Any ideas, please share 'em!

The drum program or the keygroup rogram?
I am having issues with bass which is on the keygroup program.

Thanks.

Is this, by chance, a key group that only uses three samples? If so, stretching for the notes may have been turned off. Look at the key assignments for the key group. Also, try loading the key group in a brand new empty project and see how it works.

It was one bass sample that was applied across all 128 pads, each in a different pitch. I then played them chromatically. I dont know what stretching is. I also dpnt know how to load the keygroup into a new project. LoL shit.

Its the same project ive been working on.
In the past, ive been able to watch the grid with my notes on it, and play the bass notes as i please, while the tune plays.
Now, i can still do this - except the bass notes arent on the corrrsponding pads any more. And i checked all pad banks - most of the pitches i used are gone. Idunno all the terminologies - i hope this reads thru to you.

Thanks

Well, think of this as an opportunity to learn. No one can solve this for you, all we can do is make suggestions. You need to understand the basics to understand the suggestions.

Is your bass program monophonic?

Thanks. I am learning. I am asking and i am reading.

I made this bassline following the tutotial in the manual.

Does anybody know why or how it is that i cannot highlight all of my bass notes on the grid by hitting the pads? I just cant find half of them anymore.

Id like to add some bass parts to my transitions but ive lost the ability to play all the notes.

I have looked into all the pad banks. Ive hit 16 level.

I have no idea. Anybody ever experienced this?

You have not solved this already? This is a not bug or workflow issue. This is a new user issue. What you are describing is at least 3 different issues.

1 disappearing grid notes.
2 can't highlight notes on grid by pressing a pad
3 notes won't play on x track.

Possible causes
1 user hit undo inadvertently after recording, or recorded over a section instead of overdubbing, or deleted notes while attempting another action

2 only one pitch gets selected by pressing a pad not a range. You have to use highlight for that or you can use the main menu and copy/replace a part with itself and all notes will be highlighted when you switch to grid mode.

3 track is not properly armed, track or program routed to a output not going to a speaker, track or output or program muted

No i have not solved this, i worked on other parts of my track and now im back at this roadblock.

Everything is where it should be. It all plays fine. The notes are there on the screen and if i tap one within the grid - it sounds.

I am not arming anything yet, i just wish to play around with the pads until i find sumthing i like, using the same pads i had used before.

Im sure this is a new user issue, but why is it that no matter how many pads i tap (ive tapped every single one, in every pad bank), there are 2 notes that are on the screen and in the grid but not on any pad?

And why are they no longer side by side, the way they were when i originally played them chromatically as i was instructed by the manual?

How do i get these shits back to normal?

Please advise.

The next best thing to understanding the user manual is to push every button, turn every knob, check/uncheck every setting. Even if you think something shouldn't work if you press it, do it anyway. Then press it again to see if it does something else. Then hit shift and see if it does something. I advise you to explore every page and tweak every setting and push every button. Then you'll have a better mental map of what kind of tools and functions are provided and where they exist. Do this exercise frequently and it will take shorter and shorter times for you to troubleshoot issues that you may run into.
