I'm a bit confused how this works. I have a Live2 which comes with the MPC Software license and a ton of plugins. I also purchased the Opx4 when on a deal.

However, I struggle to use the MPC Software and prefer my own daw. Thing is I want to use the MPC plugins in that, is that possible or do I need to buy licenses for every plugin I want to use separate from the MPC?

As an example, I've created an mpc standalone sequence using the mellotron, which also loads ok using the MPC Software. But I can't use the mellotron with my own daw. So, in order to use mellotron and Opx4, I have to repurchase both to be able to use as vst, is that right?

I have checked the Akai site's FAQ about it, but it just says to click continue on the activate page after logging in. But I don't get that, I just get a message saying the code is invalid.

If that is all you are supposed to do, does that mean I have to keep the MPC software installed, which it is, in order for it to be activated?

Thanks for any advice.

I use the VST version of Jura with the MPC Software native plugin and the standalone version, no problem, just one purchase. You can download the VST versions from the Air Music site (they are listed as 'demos' - install, open up the VST in your DAW and log into your inmusic account within the plugin. At this point it should sync the existing license. OR if you haven't activated yet, just activate in the VST plugin and this will allow all the other versions to activate (as long as you are logged into your inmusic account).

Maximum 3 'seats' - e.g. 1 standalone, 1 mpc software, 1 vst/au (or 3 standalone, etc).

Thanks for the quick response.

That's what I am doing but it won't activate. I only have 1 MPC, 1 MPC software installation on one PC, and now I'm trying to activate it for the VST version but it refuses to activate. I just did it for OPx4 without a hitch. When I opened OPx4 in MuLab, it just opened, didn't even ask to be activated or anything. I also added AIRChorus just to see if that would work, it asked to be activated and asked if I wanted to install activation on this PC or an iLok device, which I don't have, but that then worked fine.

Mellotron doesn't want to for some reason. But also, I've noticed it is not downloadable via my account any more. It was downloaded and installed originally as a Synth-Content package, not as a typical installer. But now I am trying to use the installer from the AIR website. Would that make any difference?

EDIT: I've just looked at the iLok software and Mellotron doesn't show up in that list, why is that?

Ah, sorry, I missed that, mellotron I believe is different as it comes 'free' as part of the MPC only. So yes, you have to purchase it to use in a DAW. Free for MPC, pay for DAW. The pure paid' plugins are the ones with the 3 seat license. This is why OPX4 works for you.

ilok is not applicable to any of these plugins, it's only used for the MPC Software itself (and Air's legacy VST plugins, such as Loom, xpand etc)

Haha glad you said that! Thought it was me! Thing is, I really love the sound of their plugins and have found so much inspirational sounds and fx. Some are better than many of the free ones I have so am thinking of switching to them. But it seems to be so much hassle.

You don't need to enter a license number when you buy directly at Akai. So they should indeed show up.

But you might have used a different email address when you bought the licenses. In this case Akai has created a new account for you on the fly. Eg it could be the address you use for a PayPal acccount (assuming you used this service for paying).

In this case you have to ask Akai to transfer the licenses.

I made this mistake and got my plugins working this way.
