I'm seeing a weird error where the samples are being unassigned from the pads. Once it was while I was working on something, and I tried some undo, but couldn't fix it so had to return to a previous save. Then I load some older projects, like a few months, and those pads were also unassigned. The samples were there on the sample assign screen. And weirdly enough despite this the sequence sill played properly.

So is this a known glitch? Is it possible I hit a button that caused this.

Believe I am on the latest firmware and it is very likely that the old projects were done on the latest firmware, but haven't checked because I might drive myself crazy.

Please let me know your thoughts.

There is a “?” where the sample used to be right? I’ve seen this (mpc x 2.12.x).

For me it happened, In WAVE EDITOR I renamed a currently assigned sample to a pad. The name remains on the pad, but logically/physically, the sample has a new name. The pad now has a name assigned that doesn’t exist, need to reassign a valid sample name to pad or clear the pad.

Dragging and dropping from BROWSER to reassign a sample didn’t work for me.

CLEAR PAD didn’t work for me.

I copied a blank pad to the “?” pad using PROGRAM EDIT pencil icon, cleared the “?”. And I am able to continue on doing whatever however.

Thanks. I'm not getting the question marks. Just the pads are empty in the sample assigned screen. I think it self resolved.

Some special characters are used to distinguish certain functions in the filesystem and/or legacy hardware OS’s may need in order to function.

Yet, people persist to test this and end up getting their feelings hurt.
