Might have been system error or something, anyway, whatever price was displayed on NI's website is gone, it's back to the normal price.

Personally I wouldn't be waiting for akai to release anything, if you are intrigued with what you are missing, just buy a second hand Live or One and see how you get on with the MPC workflow, especially compared to the Maschine workflow that you are already familiar with. Then if Akai do eventually release a 4GB Live model you can look at upgrading.

But the 2GB models are absolutely fine as long as you avoid the more memory bloated plugins (e.g. studio strings which takes up 31% ram per instance). There are other s(ample-based) options beyond the Akai plugins, ones that feature more optimised memory usage (subtle hint)

But yes, if you are looking for a travel unit then the Live/Live 2 are definitely convenient with their batteries. Although you can also easily run an MPC One with a portable battery unit. Live 2 is quite big, I'd prefer the Live with headphones (or ear buds for compact but non-critical listening).

Sheet, if you’re looking to travel, the mpc500 plus koala sampler on your phone together are the cats meow

Also consider that any proposed live 3 would likely not be to to dissimilar to the current live 2, the only likely additions would be increased ram.

I cant think of what other changes they could possibly add to the live; as its pretty much the perfect product for what it is intended to be.

the only thing I could think to add is a tilt/flip screen

I’d love that :)

mashine has been on the decline for so long the maschine plus could not save the maschine platform; NI fumbled the ball with maschine.

They was the market lead 10 years ago; but they got complacent and took they foot off the gas with regard to devleoping machine; when they started focusing on eco system crap and floggin sound packs.

so akia came back and took the throne and lapped them; maschine been loosing users since mpc live dropped in 2017 slapped them upside the head.

cos was still relatively competitively even in the mpc studio and reinisance days; but mpc live and then X crushe maschine; then the mpc one completedly obliterated them, along with the software update speed

It's weird because in many ways Maschine has a superior workflow, particularly like it's arranger.

But really Akais standalone focus has made their machine more usable overall for standalone work and there is less expectation on the software side. I actually have zero complaints on Akai software. I don't love it but I do love that every feature in the DAW is in standalone, except obviously VSTs and the computing power. As a result the focus is always about making standalone better, which is why I think this line of MPCs have gradually improved quite a bit.

I would want some standalone improvements in a future v3. Def a touchscreen/os capable of multi touch gestures to improve grid edit basics such as selecting and zooming without having to change tools.

I would also hope for a single os experience with the MPC and Force lines. I would love clip patterns like the Force and of course disk streaming, track reordering, LFO/Envl Follower. I would also love to see midi FX become a thing.

A slightly more powerful and upgradeable MPC line, with MPE pads that would be nice.

machines software is easier to get into for non mpc users but i think the swing and the grid timing sounds better on mpc ans the sound engine is slightly better on the mpc

but i think come 3.0 software there will be no stone left unturned in the mpc software; we just need that squeuancer view and the mixer view and the clips and we good forever

Just need to point out to the OP that the '3.0' release is still pure conjecture, there's no evidence of what this may contain, nor any evidence that it is even going to happen any time soon, if at all. Many years ago an Akai employee talked about some possible future features being a '3.0 thing'.

And 8 months ago, someone posted a screenshot of an empty 'mpc software 3' placeholder on the Akai web site, which they titled 'MPC Software 3 coming soon'. But 8 months ago is not 'coming soon' and IMO if this was a serious placeholder it would have gone up a few weeks before launch, not 8+ months in advance. Probably a bit of trolling or larking about by Akai staff to see what kind of reaction they could get.

Sure, mpc 3.0 will probably come eventually (or at least a very big update, whatever they choose to call it). but ATM there really isn't anything remotely tangible for it to be used as food for some kind of predictive future purchasing decision.

Ah true dat. But u know what I mean - grid edit could be more fluid.

I bought the Live 1 when it came out, sold it, bought it again a few years later, sold it and then eventually ended up with a One. I would say the workflow improvements over the years have been what have brought me back to the platform. It's such a better product now than when it first launched. I personally don't mind the introduction of the plugins either but I hope they continue to seriously improve workflow and quality of existing plugins.

I don’t see why we couldn’t have this.

God finally someone tells it like it is
I would pay money to have more useful features in a more reduced interface with more information on one screen.
I really think that stretching out the 4K screen to fit the current screen dimensions would still be touch friendly while at the same time be more efficient and look less like a tablet.
