Support and discussion for all of Akai’s modern standalone MPCs including the MPC X / X SE, MPC Live 1, 2 & 3, MPC One / One+, MPC Key 37/61.

When the MPC Key 61 was released just over a year ago it sold out immediately and was priced higher than the MPC X. Now it's $1499, barely more than an MPC Live Gen 2.

I'm curious what Key61 users think of their units... do you still use yours or did you go back to using another MPC as your daily driver?

The key feels good, however, the biggest flaw is that it's just not possible to have the pads control one track and the keys control another track without setting up a "performance".

This is a big fail. Even a MPC Live + a MIDI controller are more flexible. I have no idea why AKAI overlooked that.

although I've always wanted a modern sampler with keyboard to fill the space I used to have with my EmaxI II back in the day, I already had purchased my MPC One when the 61 Keys was announced. even with the big price bump, I would have seriously considered it otherwise. that said, for gigging it still felt bigger and bulkier than i probably would have preferred (not that the Emax wasn't either). a slimmed down 49-key version that is more easily portable would be more my speed

I bought mine with the intention on making music and it has not disappointed me in that category. I use it everyday and absolutely enjoy it. Would I have rather bought it at the cheaper price? HELL YES but it is still very Dope to me and I was in need of a new MPC. I will still using the Ren with the MPK61 and thought it was a perfect time to upgrade and save some space. Not only did it do that but also acquired standalone features. So for that I felt the intro price for what it offered was reasonable at the time.

To sum it up I don't feel anyway about the price dropping but it would have been nice to buy it at that price.
