It isn't needed for OPX4 or any of the MPC plugins, only for the MPC Software itself.

What about the bugs and updates? Isn’t MPC regularly updated? I thought it is a very stable platform

My experience is that the major "bugs" are hardware related. Since my OG Live went dead I've bought and returned 3 ONE+ and 2 OG Ones.

the ONE+ cant operate correctly with any type of storage connected to it
The OG One crashed routinely in controller mode using a brand new macbook air

Haven't attempted a Live2 or X (both a bit too big of a foot print for what I need). But the Ones are pieces of shit

Too afraid to test the used OG Live market so gonna attempt ditching MPCs all together (the only thing Ive used to make music for 20 years) and try software with a controller (maybe serato studio or ableton).

Not sure which now but some of the plugins I downloaded after my Live 2 purchase required iLok if used with another daw instead of the MPC Software.

I'll have a look at iLok and see which ones then let you know.

Regarding bugs, just read this forum! I haven't experienced any, yet! Apart fro. A crash two or three times now. But when you Co spider that I've not had much time to use my Live2, that's not good! I've probably had around one month solid use out of it so far.

Akai give away some of the old legacy Air VST plugins to MPC users as free downloads in the inMusic account, these need iLok, e.g. Mini Grand, Loom etc. But the modern native MPC plugins use their own activation system. I suspect eventually the MPC Software will also move over to this new system.

Yeah its kind of weird considering they're all supposed to be the exact same thing under the hood.. For the record, my OG Live has been fairly rock solid the entire 3/4 years I've owned it. My gripes with it are workflow/features that aren't there. For actual performance, the thing is still pretty solid. I just don't use mine anymore because it can't keep up with Cubase/Halion/Groove Agent for what I need to do.

Debated selling it lately, but I know the minute I do, something will happen and I'll need to use it (or Akai will finally just clone the 4K's OS and make it an MPC again) and Im not buying a newer one with all their issues heh.

I hope they do move over to the newer system as I don't like the iLok thing. Not that I've had problems with it... yet!
Anyway, here's that snapshot.

on another video where the guy just claimed, without any evidence, ever, that an MPC Mini was coming.

Yeah it's an interesting product idea to discuss, I think it sounds cool and all that (although I suspect it would not get much ongoing support if it's coded by a third party). But how about we keep it as a theoretical discussion, because currently that's all it really deserves. How did we get to the point were you claim 'it's said to be allegedly coming before the end of the year'? Who said this?

This whole thing is currently one big troll-fest, that padpusher guy must be laughing his socks off. Biggest mystery is how, after all this exposure, he doesn't have many channel subscribers.

the guy who started the rumours had no evidence but said he had insider knoweledge from someone related to akai; and gave very specific info, and also said there would be 3 new hardware devices this year; I am taking him on face value as I have no reason suspect him of lying as his other info check out and was shown to be correct.

of course this is all theoretical and speculative hence why i used the word alleged in my statement regarding the proposed mpc min being released this year, this all based on that same dudes video.

it may seem troll like but the same was said bout the mpc xl but it proved true once the SE was delivered albiet underwheming

But the other two devices had already been leaked via FCC filings and firmware code reveals, this was already public knowledge, he was just repeating this exiting public information and offered nothing new in respect to those two devices. He made no unique predictions here, plenty of people before him had done that. So he really had absolutely zero new info, making his third device claim completely without any authority whatsoever. And the fact that he never followed up 'in a couple of days' with more info makes it all the less believable.

Anyway, feel free to believe what you want, but come on, let's try to keep this to leaks with some actual evidence attached to them.

What you are still not getting is that both the new MPC One (+) and the new MPC X (SE) existence were public knowledge BEFORE the guy made his video about that hypothetic "MPC Live MINI". So the guy never broke any story to begin with regarding these 2 devices.

If the guy predicted the + and the SE before the FCC filling and public documents then it would have been different, but that's not the case here.

He made his video AFTER both the + and SE FCC documents were made public. Until now the guy made no prediction that came true, you're free to believe him but he has objectively no credibility.

he did give new info as all info about the mpc live mini was new info as there were no fcc docs for that that; the info pertaining to the fact that it would not be running the standard mpc os; and that it would come in two colours and that there would be 3 hardware products coming this year, was all new info, abliet with no evidence to support.

but I'm just taking dude at his word as no proof as been given, he claims to have insider knowledge, speculation is fun and time will tell.

Fun to ponder eh? OK I'd like to see an mpc foldable with the same 7inch touchscreen and functionality as the live 2! Open it up like a laptop and voila! It becomes a fully specced mpc with all the pads and buttons as on the live 2.

Id also like to see the ability to use plugins, whether vst or clap or both or more. No reason why they can't do it, only reason is that company's like this like to milk every ounce of technology before moving to bigger better things.
