For people who don’t know, Fanu is a respected member here and other places. His comments here have me waiting to see what drops before deciding to ditch mpc all together.

Sure, but flaunting insider knowledge while the plebe is "ignorant", is it how one earns respect? I think not.

Either spill the beans or say nothing IMHO.

So if he told you xyz then would you be happy no you would not just love what you have right now.. I have no clue what they are doing or offer like always bugs are fixed and sometimes things are released hopefully new plugins or hopefully 3.0 who cares do you want to spend ,$750 for a new controller with a slow and clunky komptete software?

Stop it Akai is moving in the right direction.. this is from a 30 plus year vet.. in my day lol we didn't have updates :o

I don't mean it as flaunting or being smug. I understand if it comes that way. But it's not meant that way.
Only telling you the truth.
Also I have not said anyone is ignorant here.
I have a long history of having been a tester for the companies I love, and also a very long history as a producer, but then again I can't expect everyone to know that. Electronic music, making it, and things relating to making it are my entire living.

Also, I would not say what I say if I didn't feel that way.
I'm not an "influencer" :vomit: who says this or that is good just because they get money for it.
I wouldn't say something is good even if I was paid for it, if the product wasn't good.

I have criticized Akai a LOT over the years, even on this forum, but all I've done is to push the product.

So yeah, feel free to ignore me if you don't want to believe what I have to say, but also feel free to do your research and look me up.

Been missing this forum :D
I haven't been active here for a while, but it's still bookmarked in my browser!
(I've tried to be in MPC groups on FB, but geez they kind of suck and are full of noise, while this forum has always been about the TRUTH!)

this! because being a fan does not mean that you swallow and defend everything someone hands you but to celebrate the great things and criticise the shortcomings trying to make the product/thing better because you see and know the potentials.

that bad huh; lol and what other viable alternative is there to the mpc tho

if u dont like what is currently out i doubt the mpc live mini will change ur mind; and the mpc3 software will simply but on what currently is.

Let’s use this moment to point out that a much more reliable and less intrusive activation system is a high priority user wish.

Do you mean non-iLok would be nicer?

I actually mean in standalone. Authentication keeps resetting, especially annoying on the One without Wifi, and generally terrible when you’re going somewhere without internet.

Actually, just today, another thread about this popped up.

Yep. Has been a constant issue for almost a year now on my standalone unit. I'd honestly prefer iLok over what they half implemented, and that's saying something because iLok is the devil.

Ive posted multiple times here the issues Ive been having. Love my OG Live but the newer units don't work for me. I can keep fixing and buying 2nd hand Lives or I can find something else that has better longevity. The MPC mini has nothing to do with it. I dont want a stripped down version of these new mps. Why would I want less features? Im assuming FANU is talking about future updates.

And yes, I agree, there aren't many other viable alternatives especially for my workflow. Ive always been a hardware guy but the best alternative is a my macbook and a controller. I really dont like Ableton. Been digging into Serato lately which is promising but want a dedicated controller

If you read Padpusher's comments on that 'MPC Live Mini' video he did, you'll see that whatever it is he may or may not have seen, it's almost certainly not something sanctioned by Akai, nor likely an actual MPC.

1. He claims to have spotted this on a web site, not Akai's.
2. It is not branded 'Akai', but to a different company
3. He reached out to akai about it and they said they didn't know anything about it.
4. He reached out to the third party and heard nothing back
5. He won't release the name of the site because 'Just for fun'.

It seems the name 'MPC Live Mini' is just something he decided to call it. How did we get to the stage where people are wondering if the 'MPC Live Mini' might be a solution to people's issues? If it does exist it's probably some random Chinese generic thing on Alibaba that just looks a bit like an MPC. For example, we've all seen this:

Ultimately he is continuing to refuse to give up the URL or post any pictures, because he admits he likes the drama. Whatever it may be, based on what he's said, it's clearly not an actual MPC, and ultimately there is zero proof that it even exists.

guy was a scam lol - the only info he had was my screenshot of mpc-xl switch statement, a couple of .dtb files and one+ pdf from chinese website.
as far as I remember he've done two videos on that, he deleted my comments under the first one (and ultimately took the video down I think) and then he posted the second video with "his revelations". As for "mini" he's clueless - he thought he was talking about MPC mini but in reality he was talking about polyend which back then was almost two years deep in development and was announced roughly a month (maybe two) after his video.
