Jura
Excited when it came out. Purchased. Installed.
Love it.

I like to make a fire in the back yard, pull out an instrument or two, and do a little live jam. It's my thing.
But this is no longer possible! Jura wants to phone home. No authentication, no load.
This means it is impossible to use the MPC One untethered from the internet.
No taking it to the gig and playing a show.
Which was the whole **** point of the MPC One.

Upsetting.

Anyone else experience this? Do you know of any work arounds?

There's plenty of posts about this, according to Akai it's not supposed to happen in standalone, once activated it should stay activated unless you choose to log out of your account. They said there was a bug related to time zones which can cause issues, so it's possible that this bug still exists. Make sure your firmware is up to date, check your data/time setting in preferences, what does it say? Also, try resetting preferences.

You should also open a support ticket with Akai so they can advise further

It shouldn't need to call home to operate once registered there must be some anomily that caused it to want to re-authenticate. Did you move across time zones somewhere? change your date and time settings in the unit? Apparently some users have issues with the authentication tokens going bad when the bring their units into a new time zone and connect it to the internet.

also chicago industrial is the good stuff. kmfdm / ministry.

The whole "it's not supposed to phone home" line from Akai is total BS. My plugins are registered and Wi-Fi is ALWAYS set to off due to working exclusively in standalone.

Well hey what do you know, a few weeks later I get a random pop-up that my plugins aren't activated and see that Wi-Fi was set to *ON* without my knowledge. They seem to be so incompetent they can't even discreetly haxx0rz my unit properly.

This has been happening since December of last year. Naturally Akai has no answers.

**EDIT**

Chicago industrial is the best. Viva la Wax Trax.

The hilarious thing is its all built in. They only pay for the feature to be unlocked by the software. The annoying authentication method *is* in essence what people are paying for. The actual synth is in the MPC binary, and the content is free to download willy nilly right here: https://authorizations.akaipro.com/MPC/ ... tent-1.xml

I have a way of dealing with this that some will take offense to, but it works.

In my world, there are no installable plugins for the MPC.

It's simple and it works. Try it!

The same with the Force. The actual problems are bugs and missing or clunky features, and adding more plugins doesn't make any of that go away at all. I add sounds by adding samples and using outboard gear. And with the current feature/bug set, I can live with. Buying software plugins for this system would be idiotic, asking for trouble. Using the paid plugins by hacking/cracking would be even worse self-betrayal.

Big Black (although arguably not really industrial), best Chicago band ever

Had to chime in for a couple of reasons. 1. chicagoindustrial - hah! Wax Trax was one of the best labels on the planet in the 80's and early 90's, and I miss that Chicago industrial dance sound. Spent many an evening at Neo on North Clark. 2. What you are describing above should not be happening, despite your inaccurate clickbait title.

You should be on the latest firmware, which is currently 2.12.1. Are you? If so, once you are activated, turn off your WiFi (if you have an MPC One+) or disconnect from your internet, and it should fire right up no matter where you are at. If you're having issues, I'd most certainly report it to Akai though. Haven't heard about offline activations (for standalone) being broke in 2.12.1, so something is amiss on your MPC. I take my Live 2 all over without Internet, and all of my plugins - including Jura - work just fine.

I don’t get why so many of you are having issues with your plugins needing reregistering periodically.

I’ve installed Jura/Mini D on both my Key 61 and Retro One from the same license and never had a single issue since purchasing them I gig often with both and use them daily,I don’t have the units connected to Wi-Fi unless I’m downloading OS updates and never been prompted to reinstall the licences at all on any of the OS I’ve used since purchasing them so to say they don’t work unless your connected to the Wi-Fi is horse shit.

Where have you installed the plugins content to??I have mine on the CF for the One and a thumb drive for the Key 61 the only time they don’t show up on mine is if I take out the CF or the Thumb drive that contain the plug in data before booting either unit up,but even if I have unmounted the media it’s still never asked to reinstall the licence data,I’ve never had any prompts or issues with the plugins not working once the media has been mounted again

Yeah, life-changing band for me. Didn’t you used to have Atomizer as your profile pic? Not a foot wrong on that record

KMFDM weren't orignally from Chicago - they were from Germany. But yes - Chicago WaxTrax made them available to North America, and I will always be thankful for that!

If I ever met Al Jourgensen, I'd ask him to perform the entire "With Sympathy" album again.

I just saw an interview with Al, where he actually entertained the idea of remaking that album, to punctuate the end of Ministry.
You guys amaze me, I never would have guessed there were so many here that appreciated old industrial/waxtrax. That was my gateway to electronic music.. mostly Skinny Puppy. I could go on for days..
