Tape Saturation Plugin Within MPC Live II, X SE, etc.

Good afternoon, morning, or night depending where people are. I was wanting some insight to know if there is a tape saturation plugin within Live II?

Not tape saturation only Tube

Flavor (not Flavor Pro) might help you out, but this is very limited. Flavor Pro can create very similar effects (since it‘s similar to RC-20).

I actually very much admire that plugin. its great little all in one plugin. high and low pass fiters, stereo width and then the various granular effects for character. Setting it to 40hz - 16kHz and slapping the tape effect on does a passable job imho

Oh, I do agree. If it‘s limited you usually get a good result quickly - or you don‘t.

It‘s just that: If you are used to in-depth modification as with Wavesfactory Cassette, Waves J37 or similar tools, Flavor might not be your first choice. It inspired me to get the Pro version, though.

Thanks all for responses. I have tried the Flavor plugin a few times. I sample all sounds from vinyl, so when I tested the vinyl effect it sounded questionable. Yet, the filters are pretty neat. From what I am gathering from everyone is the following. Use your creativity to get the results you want. It would be nice if Akai did a solid tape emulator like the ones in Waves or even UAD. I am new to this forum. How can we make solid suggestions to AKAI?

In my opinion, Flavor Pro is quite a blast. I fell in love with RC-20, which is pretty much highly inaccurate if you want accurate simulations, but a fun tool. Although Flavor Pro looks like a rip-off, it is easy and fun to use.

My suggestion: Try presets to get a grip on its‘ controls, but after that ignore them and apply what you want or need*. It is a funny and versatile destruction tool that can make your cleanest or shittiest sounds into something barely recognizable or something gently stroked by a smidgeon of glitter.

* Most presets mess heavily with your gain staging. Most of them clip massively when bounced - even lowering the output just makes the signals „uncomfortable“. Use the tool wisely.

Program, submix or master. per pad would start to get messy. its for making a layer or the entire mix sound crusty.
