I am the owner of MPC One, and I recently learned from Akai HP that the power adapter standard for One+ is 12V 3A.

Is this due to a physical change in the power supply design for MPS One+, or is it because the required spec for MPC One's power adapter, 19V 3.42A, was set too high than what was really needed, so they changed it to 12V ?

Does this mean that MPC One also works without problems with a 12V 3A power supply like MPC One+?

I doubt the MPC One is being overpowered, pretty sure these things have to pass various electrical tests before they can be sold in most countries. ,Too much voltage = very bad, I accidentally used the MPC Live (19v) supply on my MPC Touch (12v). A loud pop, smoke, and no more MPC Touch. So you have to assume that the MPC One was designed to use 19v.

It's possible they made changes to the internal circuitry on the One+ so it could run on less voltage. I'm no expert on these things, but if you use too low a voltage then isn't 'brownout' is an issue? I believe this was discussed in this topic here: viewtopic.php?f=48&t=194991

rockchip board is running @5v anyway so I suppose everything is down to peripherials: lower voltage on opamps, slightly lower screen brightness, pwm changed on leds, lack of ethernet, different wifi adapter (maybe?) etc...
all these things combined account for a smaller voltage drop / current draw and therefore lower power requirements.
You won't find out without opening the unit.
this post made my hands very itchy to open my live2 again and measure the voltage across different areas but my brain says that it can't be bothered :lol:
