Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000
By kid christou Thu Feb 10, 2005 2:48 pm
Finally I have got my mpc 4000.

Thanks to everyone on this site who has helped me out by answering my questions and problems. Once I am up and running I hope to be doing the same.

However, right now I don't know whether to load 1.6 or 1.7. Which is the most stable?

Last thing I need when learning this beast for the first time is bugs and problems to confuse me even more.

Can anyone help me out.

Peace

Kid

There is a thread running around about bugs found with each of those OS's. You'll have to do a search so you can find out what others have found out.

Congrats on the 4k purchase. Happy beatmaking..

Always load the latest one.

There's just no point running anything else.

Nah, it's a trade off I would think.

Some new OS's fix old bugs and introduce new features along with new bugs. The prior OS may have had some bugs fixed but not the newer features. It's a trade off see what I'm saying. It depends on you and what features you are willing to work with and what features you absolutely need in your production.

There is a recent thread Chrono started about the best PC. Some cats was giving him the fastest PC or whatever but one cat was saying that newer stuff often has bugs until later on when it's more thoroughly tested.

Like SO MANY windows purists would say that 98se was the best and easiest windows.

yo, get version 1.50. It's kinda hard to find, but it the best OS version by far. Don't settle for that 1.51. it's garbage.

hhmmm ... ... for real ... no disrespect mad t but your sure with 1.50??? ...i mean ... in my 4k 1.50 was the worst os ever - by far ... in 1.50 they introduced the midiclock, mtc, and so on ... to MIDIALL sync feature which didn't work at all ... it gave a midi buffer full message if you applied midiclock or mtc to MIDIALL at startup here .... (without inseting any other events at all)

if your workin on a 4k only with no external gear to sync than you might not even have noticed that bug ... and then i wonder: is os 1.50 really good for the rest? asking coz i never ever heart anything good bout os 1.50 ... anyways if you use external gear and want to sync it all 1.50 is absolutely unusable imo ...

imo 1.70 is best ...

Anyone who could seriously consider running Win98SE over XPSP2
is an utter moron who simply doesn't know sh*t about anything
