I see that 3 new AIR effects (Multitap Delay, Vintage Filter, Air Chorus) appeared to trial download on the MPC a few days ago.....

I'm surprised no-one is talking about it anywhere! Maybe everyone is burnt out waiting for 3.0 to appear :)

The strange thing is that they appeared in the "download" area on the MPC so you can have a 10 day trial. That implies they are paid for effects but they look like all the other AIR effects that we usually get free in an upgrade, it's not like they are complex plugin instruments like JURA, Model D etc, so why are we being charged?

Can't see any official announcement anywhere (Akai or Air sites) and only seen one other person post about it online. I was expecting to see loads of YouTube videos appear but nothing so far!

.....very strange considering how anything new from Akai/AIR usually explodes the forums :)

These have been on the cards for ages, pretty sure Ultros mentioned they are already built into the OS since a few versions back.

I’m still waiting for a comb filter but not holding my breath.

Thanks for the info!

yeah, they’ve been embedded into firmware since at least january, there are two more extra ones that don’t show up on your MPCs just yet - expander and spectral.
All of these plugins are old rehashed versions of air plugs that been released and bundled 10 years ago with avid stuff.
If you google AIR/Avid bundle - you will find them, some of them even had their reappearance in OPX4 (multitap delay / expander etc).
In other words: „sell, rehash and sell again” - nothing to be excited about imho

Didn't you find something in the source code that suggests that Fabric uses some/all of the Xpand library?

It uses modified Xpand sample playback engine not the actual samples or any other items from the original library.
There is quite a few references to it. Internally, Fabric plugin routine is called Xpand Fabric iirc - not at home atm so I don’t have access to my notes

im on version 2.11.10 and the plugins show up as a 10 day trial

but just tried the vintage filter and nothing to right home about; good that they have multiple different slopes but the mpc & air fx are just bland in general; there is ashit ton of them but they just are mostly dull to me but i guess they intended to be.
