Just an update as mpc one user, my device asked for authorisation today for my plugins.

The only explanation is a timer.

didn't have chance for a closer look yet, but they've changed something with authorizations yet again. It seems that there's a new subdirectory (2.1.0) that contains another set of licenses. Don't know if this is a backup of the "old type" license files or it is used as new licensing method. Will have to compare them later on.

EDIT:
just had a quick glance at them and yes, "2.1.0" directory contains updated license files:
"CHALLENGE_VERSION": "0x10100", - old ones
"CHALLENGE_VERSION": "0x20202", - 2.1.0 directory
so to answer OP question - most probably it was one time challenge only, just to get license files updated for 2.12.2 firmware version.

Last night, summer time ended. Could be related to that.

Yeah I've been thinking that too. If we get a lot of reports concerning the authorisation now, the claim that 2.12.2 fixed the issue is bogus.
Anyway, I hope this gets sorted out sometime soon. I wouldn't mind getting the Mini D and Flavor Pro (and maybe the Juno) but will definitely hold out until I know that authorisation is reliable.
It still puzzles me that they went for such a broken system, and if they don't fix it soon, I'd say let the cracking and pirating commence cuz then the argument that cracked software is more reliable than DRM'ed software holds true for MPCs as well.

Clocks changed 1 hour today in the uk, end of British summertime

Ah OK. You guys practice your own version of Daylight Saving Time - my condolences. Across the pond most of us hate it. We’ve got a bill in the House of Representatives to repeal it and make the time change permanent but the House is about as functional as a horse at NASCAR. :lol:

The latest firmware did not address the root of the problem regarding plugin activation.

According to a rep at Akai, there are regular checks by the MPC to check the validity of the authorization. If you don't have issues with this, chances are you're currently connected via Wi-Fi or connect enough for it to not be an issue. The excuse is that "it's still a new system."

The rest of us are screwed and there's no desire to have it any other way as long as people keep buying plugins.

Which firmware are you on? Did this happen before or after you installed MPC 2.12.2?

I didn’t install the latest firmware, i just re-authorised the plugins.

So im on previous firmware.

To anyone reporting this here - if you are having issues with forced re-activation you really need to first update to the latest firmware (2.12.2) as ultimately the release notes specifically state that this fixes the issues. There's no point reporting issues or bugs experienced on an out-dated firmware.

After updating it might be possible that you have to initially re-authorise as it sounds like they've changed a few things. If you still have issues on 2.12.2 after all this, let us know more details.

Also, if you are having problems with the authorisation process itself, i.e. you cannot authorise at all (e.g. activation server not communicating), let us know more details. But this is IMO, clearly a separate issue to the forced reactivation problem.

You might want to install the latest firmware (which is 2.12.2) as there are bug fixes in it, and - allegedly - some improvements to license handling. That said, you'll need to connect to the Internet at least once to re-authorize, I'd imagine.
